Friday night was so good.  We actually went on a legit date, dinner, movies, dessert and all that.  After the sprint that was last week, and all it’s craziness, a night out was just really necessary.  Has anyone else seen Captain Phillips?  Holy amazing.  I was shaking at the end, and I’m thinking Tom Hanks is looking at yet another AA nomination…

Anyways, yesterday marked the start of the birthday blitz which is October; 3 of my kids and a whole bunch of other family members have birthdays this month, and it is crazy, and fun and also expensive (let’s be real).  Carter turned 8 yesterday, which is kind of a big deal.  Especially since he’s getting baptized in a few weeks, yay!  Sometimes, when I think about how old my kids are getting I want to cry into my pillow, but also they are growing into such fantastic little people and it’s really, really fun to get to watch that.  I’m finding that so much of life is bitter-sweet.

BTW, these are probably the most comfortable pair of pants on the planet, just in case you were wondering.  I ordered them knowing that they would probably be too big and too long, and when they arrived they were.  But then I put them on and they were so soft and drapey they were worth a little reconstruction.  A quick slim and shorten and these stubby little legs of mine have never been happier.

Track Pants: WAYF via Nordstroms (slimmed and shortened by me.) Blouse: J Crew Factory.  Heels: Enzo Angiolini. Clutch: TJMaxx. (similar) Necklace: Old. (this one’s fabulous.)

Those pants look awesome on you! I’m not sure I’d be able to pull them off though.

I love your blog! I’m sure everyone says this, but I feel like we’d be best friends ;) I’m 5’0″– and petite as well, and I have these pants. Any chance you would do a tutorial on how you altered them?

I’m wearing my track pants today as well…with leopard smoking loafers, a graphic scarf and my trusty denim jacket…super-stylish and super-comfortable! I originally bought my track pants for the 10+ hour flight to Europe, but ended up wearing them several times out-and-about on our trip (and here in Texas, too!) My “Hammer” pants (as my hubby refers to them) are from Gap and were a clearance rack purchase (last spring) that I haven’t been able to find ANYWHERE! Thanks for the info…I just might need to stop by Nordstrom on my way home this evening!

I love this outfit! So cute! I have these pants in purple and they are seriously so comfortable! However I am in high school and cannot walk in heels, so I was wondering if you have any ideas of shoes(flats) that would be cute with them?
    Thanks!

I think pointy ballet flats look really great with track pants, and in the summer, gladiator sandals.
