3 tips for wearing comfy pants and still feeling put together.

Pants: J.Crew. Tee: Everlane. Jacket: Anthro. (last fall, similar here.) Bag: Target. Shoes: Forever21 (old. similar here and here.) Necklace: Maya Brenner designs. (c/o)

So this pull-on pant trend gets an enthusiastic thumbs up from me.  Especially since it’s been hotter than hades lately. (disclaimer: these pictures were taken last weekend when the weather was much much cooler-hence the jacket)  Anyway, these pants are so comfortable they feel like pajamas.  And while I’m basically doing mental cartwheels that “comfy pants” are popular right now, I’m not going to lie, sometimes I feel like I’m one step away from frumpy.

I’ve come up with three simple tricks for staying this side of the frump aisle when it comes to these kinds of slouchy pantaloons.

1. Pattern play.  Pick up a pair with a pattern (I prefer Ikat myself, and the subtle tribal feel it gives off).  A pair of patterned comfy pants (when done right) can make an outfit look deliberately relaxed and chic instead of just, you know, looking like you rolled out of bed.

2. Heels.  (or wedges.) They instantly glam up any outfit.  Just ask my boyfriend jeans

3. Add a third piece, like a leather jacket or (if it’s smoldering like it is here) a statement necklace.  It will look intentional and it will make your outfit look and feel finished.

So are you on board with the comfy pants trend?  How do you make them work for you?

Having been out of the US for awhile, I’m not really sure about the comfy pants trend, but I would be ready to jump on board. I like to be comfortable without looking too sloppy.
