This season I’m all about ripped skinny boyfriend jeans and plaid blanket scarves.  Is there anything more cozy/casual for fall than that?  I submit that there is not.  I’ve been living in some variation of this combo pretty much since the weather turned from warm late summer to crisp autumn.

I love these giant blanket scarves, they’re so unapologetically large, and I like that they basically completely wrap up and hide a bad hair day.   Which, let’s face it, happens a lot this time of year in the PNW, because #rain.  My poor frizzy hair.  I’m definitely due for a keratin treatment.

Also, can we talk about these jeans for a moment? Because I thought there might be more than just me out there who’s kind of up-a-creek when it comes to the ripped-knee jean trend.  I love this trend, but when you’re short the “knee rips” kind of end up hitting around the mid-calf.  Which looks a little silly.  The great thing about these jeans is that the distressing is a little higher.  (If you look at the model in the product picture the rips hit her mid-thigh) which means on a shorty like me they are perfectly placed for the ripped knee look.

I also really love the wash and other distressing as well as the fit and how (completely) comfy they are.  They are technically skinny jeans.  But as I’ve mentioned before I like to just size up two sizes and where them as a slouchy skinny boyfriend jean.  I’ve always love Zara for their distressed denim but I haven’t had any luck in the last 6 months there.  These jeans are such a great replacement option, and I love that they’re around $70.   So, if you’re a shorty like me and you’ve wanted to try the ripped-knee trend but were running into the same problem, here’s a good option.

Anyway.

It’s my second child’s tenth birthday today.  Tenth.  Wow, that went fast.  I asked him what he wanted for his special birthday dinner and he asked for muffins and scrambled eggs.  Um, I think I can pull that off.  And also, thank you for requesting the easiest meal I will ever make.  Maybe the only time he’s ever been low-maintenance.  Kidding.  Sort of.

Oh, but you could always distress your own jeans!

I want muffins and eggs for my birthday now. That sounds pretty darn good.

You look warm & cozy. As another short person, I can relate to the problem of things not landing where they should in the fit of your clothes. :)
