barely a DIY.

Probably the best piece of decorating advice I ever got, (besides the one my mom gave me about layering different prints and textures) was to display things that have meaning around my home.  I love finding creative ways to showcase significant parts of our family history.  So the cubby in my studio is adorned with spare parts to my grandmother’s antique sewing machine, Mr.’s old passport carrier from Russia, the first wooden stamp with my logo, and a picture of me and Mr. the night he graduated from college.  I have the littles’ silhouettes hanging on the wall in their rooms, forever preserving the exact curvature of their cheeks at age 3.  One of Hannah’s blessing booties is framed next to the pictures of her first day of ballet, and the bomber jackets Mr. bought the boys 3 Christmases ago are hanging on the wall of their room.

So when Ava’s birth announcement arrived in the mail, delightfully striped, and beautiful I knew it had earned itself a spot on her nursery wall.

Here’s a fun little idea for preserving cards or announcements.

It’s such an easy little project I don’t even think you can call it a DIY.

Behold Ava’s birth announcements.

I love them so much.

I mean come on, even the envelope is pretty.

Here’s what you need:

announcement, envelope, a 12×12 frame, one sheet of 12×12 scrapbook paper, and a glue stick.

Arrange.

Paste.

Press.

 Repeat.

Place.

Tada!
See, isn’t that pretty?
And I know just where to put it…
