fun winter layers.

Man, I love the holidays.  Any excuse to wear red and spontaneously break out into song…

I always think the week before Christmas is the most fun of the whole year, don’t you?  Everything is so festive and the closer we get to the day, the happier everyone is, the more you hear Christmas music everywhere you go-people humming carols under their breath absentmindedly, yummy treats from friends, wrapping up gifts, looking at lights, the smell of pine everywhere, it’s the greatest.

Okay, I admit, the smell of pine is not exactly a new thing for us here in Seattle, but everything else is just what makes Christmas the most fun.  During this festive, but chilly time of year, I like to pull out my fun winter layers.  A great fair isle deer print hat and mittens, a bright red buffalo check scarf and a little houndstooth, make for a festive and fun winter layered look.  This one I took for a spin at the local Christmas tree lot while I was hunting down a fresh pine wreath for the front door, and my cozy hat and mittens kept me toasty warm on a super chilly day in the emerald city.  I love to wear sweaters almost everyday this time of year, and this one is a great addition to my closet.  So good in fact that I bought it in two colors.  (I sized up one size because I wanted it a bit looser.)

How are you spending the last week before Christmas?

PS. If you’re looking for something fun to do in Seattle, think about doing a little city over-nighter this week before Christmas.  The W hotel has a fun It’s a Wrap package right now, when you book your stay you get a free room upgrade and the chance to go shopping downtown (hello $50 gift card), then have your gifts wrapped while you grab a bite to eat.  Craig and I were going to stay there last weekend before we left town for the holidays but our sitter got sick last minute and we had to cancel. :-(  I was so sad because the W hotel is amazing and I you know I love being in downtown Seattle during Christmas, it’s complete magic.  Ah, c’est la vie.  Such is the life of a parent, eh?

That scarf is so cute! And I love the holidays as well even though I don’t celebrate Christmas for the exact same reasons that you love it, it’s just such a happy time!
