3 trends to try this summer.

I don’t know about you, but I feel like I have a hard time being creative with my closet in the summer months.  Layers are definitely one of my style signatures, but when it’s warm out, they are last thing I want to be wearing.  I often find myself feeling kind of blah about getting dressed in the summer, because how creative can you get when your main goal is to stay as cool as possible.

Today I’m teaming up with TJMaxx to help you ladies get ready for the warmer months, and I thought it would be fun to talk about three trends to try this summer that make a big style statement without making you sweat.

1- Culottes. I was on the fence about culottes for a little bit, but then I found my first pair a couple months ago and I’ve been pretty much on board since then.  They are a great classic style and are perfect for summer.  The wide leg makes them super breezy for staying cool, and they come in so many different styles and fabric choices. I’m kind of obsessed with high-waisted denim culottes, and I found these ones for a total steal and TJMaxx online.  If you are petite like me, don’t shy away from the trend, just make sure you get the length right.  In other words, don’t be afraid to take a pair to the tailor.  You’re probably going to find that every pair is too long when you try them on, but trust me, having a  few inches cut off will do wonders.

2- White.  This is not a new trend, white in the summer is as old as the season, but I still find women (especially moms) who are afraid to try out the trend in the summer months.  Don’t be!  White makes a big crisp clean statement, and there are so many ways to rock the trend.  White dresses and white pants are a couple of my favorite ways, but even just a white accessory like a handbag or a pair of shoes are a great way to embrace the trend.  Want to take it to the next level?  Try a monochromatic head-to-toe white look. If you aren’t quite ready for that, start with a simple white tee. And fear not the smudgy little fingerprints if you are in the thick of motherhood, just toss your white pieces in the wash with some bleach and they come out sparkly every time.
3. Espadrille Wedges.  This trend feels like a throwback to my high school days, but it came back with a vengeance last year, and it looks to be still going strong this summer.  Being a shorty, I naturally love this trend, because it’s a fun fashionable way to give myself a little more height.  I think wedges are a lot easier to walk in than traditional heels so it makes them a little more practical for the everyday and I love how summery the espadrille style is.  I was drawn to this pretty pair and I love that it combines two of my favorite summer trends.

I’ve been shopping at TJ Maxx since, well forever.  My mom is a super Maxxinista, and a good Maxx treasure hunt is practically part of our family culture.  Every time I go to visit my sisters and mom it’s one of our first stops.  I’ve always loved that I could find great on-trend brand name pieces at amazing prices.  My sisters and I have said for years that we wish we could shop TJ Maxx online, and guess what?!  Now you can!  All the awesome treasure hunting from the comfort of your compute.  Plus in-
store returns are free and super easy.
