One of my favorite things to do when we have some free time, now that we’re on the East Coast, is go explore the shoreline.  Our farm is only about 25-30 minutes form the water, and I love that we’re so close.   We’ve been to several little New England beach towns now, Newport, RI, Mystic, Madison, and Old Saybrook, CT to name a few.  You know what?  They are exactly what you’d picture them being.  New England isn’t short on charm, that’s for sure, and every town seems just as quaint and filled with gorgeous cape style homes and little Inns, pretty boardwalks and long coastal grasses as the next.  It’s the quintessential American summer scene, and I feel like I’m waking up in a Normal Rockwell painting.

I don’t know if it was living in Seattle, where the warm months are very fleeting, but I have felt creatively stunted when getting dressed in the summer for the last few years.  I feel like I’m finally moving past that this season.  I’m loving all the cute tops I’ve been finding, (especially the bell sleeve and front tie ones) and all the cute culotte styles this year.

I have been living in these white denim culottes lately.  They are so comfortable and a little more forgiving than my skinny white jeans (although I love those too), and I love how they look paired with a graphic tee, like this “Andiamo” one from J.Crew (that’s 25% off today.)  The whole outfit feels like summer to me.  Laid back, no fuss and fun.  J.Crew is killing it in the graphic tee department lately, don’t you think?  Loving all the travel themed graphics and they’re all done in that perfect t-shirt material that’s lightweight and slouchy, and so so comfy.  Perfect for a summer outfit.
