florals for fall with Nordstrom.

BP. Floral top.  Treasure and Bond Denim. Vince Camuto Peep toe booties. (similar here and here.) Tory Burch Pink Handbag. Karen Walker Sunglasses. Kate Spade Necklace. MAC Lipstick. (snob)

The other day I was watching the “Devil Wears Prada.”  Do you ever do that?  Pull out an older movie that you kind of forgot about and watch it over again, just to remember how good it actually is?  As I was watching it that part came on when Meryl Streep says, “Florals?  For spring?  Groundbreaking.”  I seriously laughed for like two minutes, and I don’t even know why I found it so funny.  But even now a few days later, every time I’ve thought of that line I kind of chuckle to myself.

Obviously florals are always going to be a thing in the spring, but I love florals for fall.  It’s a little surprising and a nice feminine change from all the plaids and heavy fabrics we’ll inevitably see.  I love the deep moody tone florals they are such a great way to transition your wardrobe from late summer into early fall.  I was in Nordstrom the other day when I spotted this pretty floral peplum top, and I fell in love.  I love the mixed pattern, the layered ruffles on the sleeve, and the pretty deep purples and soft pinks.  I love that Nordstrom always stocks pieces that are fun and a little surprising.  I wouldn’t have thought to look for a top like this, but I can tell it’s going to be in constant rotation this fall season.

Wearing it in mid-August means styling it simple, since layers aren’t happening right now.  I wear jeans all through the summer (not a shorts lover) and I paired the top with these awesome ones I snagged during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, which I have worn countless times since I snagged them a couple weeks ago.  They are the only pair of high waisted jeans I’ve actually liked on me, so if you have trouble finding ones that work for you, you may want to give them a shot.  My new Tory Burch bag came last week and I love how the soft pink plays off the deep moody tones in the top.  These olive Vince Camuto peep toes booties from last year (there are two super similar pairs at Nordstrom right now, I linked them above) give the outfit a little edge and keep it from getting too precious.

People always ask me how I pick which pieces to invest in and which pieces to save on.  Shoes, bags and jeans I will always spend a little more on, because they are the pieces you wear again and again, that mix and match with all the other pieces in your closet.  I try to save on trendy pieces like this top which is only $45.  I love that I can always find beautiful options in both trendy and investment pieces at Nordstrom.  No one beats their curated collections, or their selection. And I love that I can always find great shoes in my size.  That sounds funny but when you wear a 5-5.5 you’d be surprised how rare it is to find a store that carries your size.  (That goes for the Nordstrom petites section too, game changer.)
