6 ways to style an eyelet dress for winter, spring, and summer.

eyelet Madewell dress. (marked down to under $50)

One of the requirements I have before I buy something is that I have to be able to think of at least 3 different ways to style it with pieces that I already have in my closet.  This helps me avoid impulse purchases, and makes the pieces in my closet work seamlessly together.  I usually don’t have too much trouble figuring out at least 3 different ways to style something, but every once in a while I stumble across something where I can immediately think of at least half a dozen ways to wear it.  And I know it’s going to be a valuable addition to the closet.  This eyelet dress I snagged from Madewell last week, is one of those pieces.  So today I thought it would be fun to show you, the first 6 styles that popped into my head when I bought the dress.  (Although, I’ve thought of a bunch more since then.)  And good news, it’s on major sale, marked down to under $50 from $168.

The great thing about this dress is that it’s easy to style it through all 4 seasons, and today I’m going to show you 6 options for the next 3 season.  Winter, Spring, and Summer.

WINTER:

To style a dress in the winter it’s all about the layers.  For the first look I went with an all black monochromatic look, which I think is always chic, and I paired the dress with a leather jacket, beret and riding boots.  They second is a bit more classic with tights, heels and a fun pop of color with a bright coat.

SPRING:

In the spring the sun is starting to come out again, and while it’s warmed up quite a bit from winter, it’s still not exactly “warm.” So I always layer with a light jacket and then start to have fun with the shoes, like throwing on some loafers, or a pair of hunter boots for the inevitable rainy spring day.

SUMMER:

By summer, it’s warmed up enough that the dress can be worn on its own, which means having fun with accessories that pop.  I love my bags to make a real statement in the summer months, and this cage bag and this straw bag are two of my favorite summer options.

Love the different outfits you put together. One question. Would you say the dress runs true to size? Please advise if you can conflicting reports on Madewell site. Thanks

I’d say it runs TTS. It’s more of a straight silhouette, kind of a ruffly shift dress, if you know what I mean, so it’s not going to be super fitted, but I got a 00 (which is my normal size) and as you can see it fits me just as it should. hope this helps! The details on it are really so pretty!
