7 ways to embrace spring.

Eyelet top.

It’s been my kid’s spring break this week, but the weather has been kind of blah.  Cold and rainy for most of the week, does not make for the most thrilling spring break.  We’ve tried to do a few outside activities, (I even took them to Six Flags) but it was cold!  So I thought today it would be fun to share 7 ways to embrace spring (even if it’s still cold).

Buy yourself some flowers.  I’m a big believer in buying myself flowers.  If nature won’t cooperate, I’ll just bring it inside!  Having a vase full of fresh blooms on my counter just puts me in a cheery mood, and so it’s something I do for myself every other week or so.

Plant an herb garden inside.  Ethan has been begging me to start an herb garden since January and we got it planted this month.  It’s so fun to water them every day and wait for the little sprouts to appear, and it’s a really good activity to do with kids.  Very kinetic.

Get your spring wardrobe in order.  Now is the perfect time to pick up the spring pieces your wardrobe might be missing.  I always lean towards eyelets and floral prints, lots of white of course, and I start shopping for swimsuits and sandals about now too.

Here are some of my spring favorites right now:

Do some spring cleaning.  Clean out your cupboards and closets and give everything a good scrub down.  You can even think about hiring a house cleaner once to do a good deep clean on your whole space.  Have you signed up for my free organized closet mini-course?  You can click here to sign up, and it is life-changing!

Go to a nursery and plan your summer planting.  You might not be ready to plant your summer flowers, but you can head to a nursery and plan out what you’re going to purchase.   And I just find it so therapeutic being among all the blossoms when the weather has been bad.  It reminds me that there’s an end in sight…

Lighten up your makeup routine.  Start incorporating your spring and summer colors, those pretty pink glosses and sun-kissed blushes will help you feel fresh.  If you’re looking for some new spring beauty products, Sephora is having their huge spring bonus sale right now.  (you have to be an insider to shop the sale, but it’s free to sign up.)

Buy yourself a new dress.  I kind of tuck away my dresses during the winter months (except for Sundays) but when Spring rolls around I’m ready for fun and flirty silhouettes again, and I love picking out a new dress for myself.   Speaking of which, did you see that the Gal Meets Glam collection launched today?  And holy wow, every single dress is gorgeous.  You can even shop the collection at Nordstrom!  (yay for fast free shipping.)
