updating a holiday tradition: our dinner and a movie night.

This post is brought to you by Blue Apron. While this was a sponsored opportunity, all content and opinions expressed here are my own.

One of our favorite holiday season traditions is going to the movies.  That looks a little different this year, but the silver lining of 2020 was the opportunity to make old traditions new again by thinking of new and creative ways to update them.  So this year, instead of loading up in the car and heading to the theater, we decided to do dinner and a movie at home.

To celebrate Disney and Pixar’s Soul, now streaming on Disney+, we decided to make a night of it for the whole family.  The best part is, Blue Apron created limited time recipes to celebrate the movie, so it was extra easy to get everyone together in the kitchen cooking this season, with fun meals celebrating our holiday season movie delivered right to our door.  There are still two recipes available on Blue Apron that celebrate the new movie, Soul, the “Cool Cajun Chicken Lettuce Chops” will be available during the week of January 4th and the “Smooth Salmon and Homemade BBQ Sauce” the week of January 11th.  There’s still time to add them to your weekly rotation so make sure and hop on today to add them.

Our kitchen is the heart and soul of our home, and I’ve been bringing my kids in there to cook with me since they were little.  Now that most of them are teenagers, it feels like I’m the head chef with a little army of sous-chefs and I’m so glad I started them young in the kitchen.  We’ve made so many memories around the counter, chopping vegetables or browning meat on the stove, listening to music and talking.

What I love about Blue Apron is how it takes all the stress out of our time in the kitchen.  Since the easy-to-make recipes and fresh ingredients are delivered right to our door, I can focus on the time in the kitchen with my kiddos, instead of stressing about meal planning and trips to the grocery store.  The recipes always get a thumbs up, even from my pickier eaters.

It is so fun watching my kids grow in their confidence in the kitchen, and with Blue Apron’s step-by-step guidance through each recipe we all end up learning new skills.

Why I love Blue Apron:

I’ve been using Blue Apron for months now, and it’s become one of my favorite things I do for myself as a busy mom to make my life easier and less stressful.  Blue Apron lets you choose from a variety of chef-designed, ready-to-cook meals with perfectly portioned ingredients and lots of flavorful options, all sent to your door. It’s also very flexible, so if you’re busy you can skip weeks or cancel at any time. This year especially I have appreciated having Blue Apron there for me to deliver stress-free recipes right to my door. Sometimes I’ll just hand my teenagers the recipe and ingredients and they make the whole dinner on their own.  It’s awesome!

This month we have enjoyed several of Blue Apron’s recipes celebrating Disney and Pixar’s new movie Soul and we’ve had so much fun cooking them and getting excited to curl up as a family and watch it together.  There’s even a link to a fun jazzy playlist on Blue Apron’s site to cook to and it brought even more Soul into the kitchen.  (You can click here to find the playlist! It’s seriously so darling, your kids will love it.) If you’re ready to get started with Blue Apron, you can click here to get $20 off each of your first 3 boxes.

Disney and Pixar’s Soul is streaming now on Disney+, so pop over to Blue Apron, get your meals delivered right to your door and make a fun little dinner and a movie date night with your kids!
