Fall Outfit Ideas for Soccer Moms with American Eagle Outfitters.

It’s crazy to me that only a few weeks ago we were sweating through the hot, humid New England summer days, and now, the air is crisp, the leaves have started to fall and the entire grocery store smells like pumpkin spice. Fall has indeed arrived, and with it a change of schedules too.  I, like a lot of you moms out there spend a large amount of time during the fall at various fields watching soccer or football games cheering my kids on, or taxiing them back and forth from practice.

I’ve never glorified busy and I’ve tried very hard not to let my kids get over-programmed but the older they get the busier our weeks and weekends have become.  I find myself at least 4 times a week at the soccer field sitting on the bleachers, which as you know isn’t the most glamorous of locations.  Fall is my favorite time of year to get dressed, and so I still want to feel put together and cute even if I might be trudging through a muddy field.  I thought it would be fun to put together some Fall outfit ideas for soccer moms.

Once the weather turns I start transitioning my wardrobe from summer to fall and I love incorporating cozy staples like sweaters and great denim.  American Eagle Outfitters has been my go-to for years for fun, cozy, casual pieces.  I love AEO for my momiform pieces, because they have really mastered the art of casual dressing.  Everything is fun and stylish, but also super wearable, comfortable and practical.  And their amazing denim can take a serious hit and keep on coming, plus they carry petite friendly short lengths. The first outfit I put together I started with this great waffle Henley.  I don’t think I can accurately describe my love for this shirt.  It’s like if a super soft Henley and a super soft sweater had a baby, it would be this top.  It’s fun and cozy and looks great with a pair of skinny jeans and some rain bootswhich is how I styled it here. (FYI it also looks great with straight jeans and mules.)  It’s a great versatile piece for your fall capsule.  I threw on this cute ball cap(even though my husband would laugh because I’m #notlowkey).  I love wearing ball caps, I just think they’re a fun way to add a little casual pop to an outfit.

I styled the second outfit with some distressed boyfriend jeans (a motherhood staple if ever there was one), some sneakers and this great striped sleeve sweater.  It’s super soft and comes in a bunch of great fall colors. I picked up the navy one, and I’d like to grab the mustard and pumpkin colored ones too.  A little tip for styling a roomy sweater like this with boyfriend jeans: since both items are more relaxed you don’t want to look swallowed up in your clothes.  You don’t want your boyfriend jeans too baggy, and make sure to front tuck the sweater. It’s not just what you’re wearing, it’s often how you’re wearing it that makes the outfit.  Make sure you tuck and roll until everything looks right and proportional.

You know I had to include overalls, because I love a good pair.  AEO has several great pairs of overalls in different silhouettes from fitted to distressed boyfriend.  I paired a more fitted silhouette with a soft tee and this gorgeous moss green cardigan, then I threw on some sneakers, but it would be super cute with some booties or even rainboots.  If you’re nervous about trying overalls, adding a long cardigan is a great way to ease into the style, and the combo is lengthening and slimming.  This awesome cardigan comes in a few pretty colors and I love the chunky knit on it, it’s got a great texture that really elevates an outfit.
