my most worn 2nd trimester items.

Okay, so let’s talk maternity capsules for a minute today… I tell you what, dressing a pregnant body is tricky. It’s literally changing everyday, things that fit last week, no longer do, and yet the idea of buying a lot of new clothes, just to turn around and not wear them again in 4 months… not my favorite way to build a capsule. The goal for me this pregnancy was to make as many of the pieces I already own and love keep working for me, while strategically adding pieces that I could wear during pregnancy and after delivery. I’ve had to adjust some of the silhouettes I invest in, and happily I’ve been able to build a maternity capsule full of almost entirely non-maternity pieces that I can keep wearing postpartum.

Here are my most worn items from my 2nd trimester. I anticipate being able to keep wearing most if not all of them through month 9, and then after delivery.

t-shirts. button down courier shirt. graphic tee. tan minkpink dress. black jumpsuit. black dress. linen pants. maternity jeans. leggings. bike shorts. huaraches sandals. trainers. sneakers. flip-flops.

Okay, let’s start with these Madewell tees. They are awesome! A bit longer without being too oversized, I’ve been able to wear them in my normal size through the entire pregnancy so far, and I think they’re really flattering.

Dresses are one of the things that has really helped me survive the first 5 months comfortably during a New England summer. I’ve been mostly wearing these baby doll silhouettes, which are super bump friendly and still really cute.

I’ve been a fan of Clare V. bags for years, but I love her apparel line, especially since her pieces tend to run oversized so they’re nice and maternity friendly. I’ve been wearing this fun graphic tee a lot over the last few months.

Z Supply is one of my favorite comfies brands; I snagged a couple of these jumpsuits at the beginning of summer and they have been a heaven-sent on the hot muggy days when I need to feel extra comfortable.

What would I have done without these Old Navy wide-leg linen pants? I bought them in early spring and I have worn the heck out of them all summer. They worked before I was showing, and now that my bump is rounder, they’re still serving me well. Best $30 I’ve ever spent in a capsule.

I’m not a huge fan of maternity jeans (who is right?) but I finally found a pair that I actually really like and they have surprisingly been helping with my sciatic nerve pain, which was an unexpected benefit. These Madewell maternity jeans are flattering and comfortable, and a great addition to a maternity capsule. The full panel means they’ll take me through the 3rd trimester, which I also love.

Aerie has been my got-to for leggings for the last 3 years, and I still love this pair, which I wear every single morning to work out and they work beautifully with my growing bump. I added these bike shorts to my line up this summer and they’re so comfortable and look cute with an oversized t-shirt, sneakers and the bump.

Comfortable shoes have been vital, especially with all the back pain I’ve dealt with this time around. I’ve been living in my Madewell sneakers and these Nisolo huaraches. Nisolo’s semi-annual sale is happening right now, and I highly recommend their shoes!
