matching set: top. bottoms. socks. sneakers.
I used to think that wearing matching sets would make me look like a toddler, but the truth is, it’s one of my favorite trends to emerge in the last few years. I think it’s fun and casual, I always feel chic in a matching set and I love that you can wear the pieces together or remix them with other parts of your closet. I’m now happily clad in a matching set at least once a week, whether it makes me look like I got style tips from my baby or not…
The matching sets trend cropped up in 2019, was only perpetuated by the pandemic, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, if you’ve been hesitant to try this trend, this is the season. Since the trend is so wide-spread at this point, there are tons of great options for matching sets now, everything from super casual jogger sets, to more elevated looks with jogger-trousers, and in bright colors and more muted elegant neutrals. And there are lots more options for sizing as well, good news for us petite, tall or plus size ladies.
I personally prefer to stick with a great understated neutral when it comes to the matching sets I’ve added to my closet. I think they are easier to dress up or down depending on what your needs are, and look chic and classic. (I also feel like it helps me avoid looking like little kid in a matching set, since I am under 5 feet tall.) If the idea of a matching set intimidates you, start with a great neutral.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite neutral matching sets from around the web below, as well as some of my favorite baby sets as well, because Finn’s a fan of the trend too. ;-)
