If you only had one afternoon in Seattle, Pike Place market is where I’d tell you to go.  Located right in the heart of the city, just off the waterfront, it’s the quintessential Seattle experience.  A walk through the inside of the market is a mix of smells (fresh seafood, veggies, breads, and every kind of seasonal flower) and sounds (feet walking, vendors calling out prices, people ordering flowers, someone is always playing music) the cement ground is always damp ( from melting fish ice or rain or who knows what) and the whole feel is gritty but not grimy, and real genuinely Seattle.  The outside market is just as fun, and boasts Beecher’s cheese and the Crumpet shop, my two personal favorites, plus Metsker Maps which is always worth going in, and the umbrella shop, which is just what it sounds like, a shop with hundreds and hundreds of umbrellas.  The gum wall is just around the alley from Pike, a gross but cool spot that spells of bubbleyum and spearmint at the same time.

The waterfront is just a quick walk down (what I like to call) the staircase of death, and has the Aquarium, (which is awesome) the ferris wheel, Ye old Curiosity shop, and lots of other fun spots.  Although admittedly, the waterfront is a bit of a mess right now, due to construction and lots of our favorites places are closed right now… (I’m looking at you Ivar’s.)

I’ve never been much of a jumpsuit person, but I bought this one for our cruise last month and it’s turned into a closet favorite.  I wore it on our 11 hour red eye flight down to the Caribbean and then all around town on our first day in San Juan.  It was so, so comfortable on the flight I slept like a baby, and perfectly breezy in that muggy tropical humidity.  Then worked well for dinner on the town that evening.  I love a great transitional wardrobe piece and this one is a gem.  I like to wear my jumpsuit with wedges, but I still think it’s cute with ballet flats or a pair of flip flops.   Also, I thought you should know, while I love, love, love this panama hat from JCrew, it’s rather delicate which can be interesting with kids in tow.  I tried on an amazing white one at Madewell last week and it is so much more durable (plus it’s less expensive so…).  I still wouldn’t drive a car over it or anything, but it can take a bit more of a hit and keep on coming.

That jumpsuit is nice to have. I’d love to live by a…you know…waterfront. Must be nice.

Also, I know it sounds super corny and there are thousands on YouTube…It would be great if you did an actual hair tutorial. I had my hair done last week and it cost $55 and didn’t look as good as yours does. No one on YouTube that I’ve seen has hair that looks as good as yours does. Especially people who have a lot of hair that is not naturally pin straight. Please. Show us what you know…

I know you get keratin treatments now, but even before then your hair looked good. $55 is too rich for my blood when you just don’t even feel fabulous afterward…
