I’ve always loved this sort of classic black dress with a blouse look. It’s a fun way to mix up a LBD don’t you think? A dress like this is so versatile, it can be mixed and remixed so many different ways. Since I always wear sleeves for religious reasons, I often only gravitate towards dresses with sleeves, but there are so many benefits to the sleeveless dress even if you’re in the same situation as me. It opens up a lot more opportunity for creativity. It can be worn with a more casual top, a cardigan, or a blazer. You can pair it with heels, ballet flats, riding boots, or even sneakers; the possibilities are endless. You can dress it up for the holidays, or down for a day around town, and when you go with a nice knee length it’s still professional/office appropriate.
I went with the kind of classic preppy dressy look here, but I’d love to try pairing this frock with a chambray shirt and a pair of cognac riding boots. I’ve been so obsessed with my booties this year, that I’m sorry to say my riding boots are feeling a little neglected, I think it’s time to pull them out again…
(ps. Just FYI- H&M runs small and this dress is no exception. Also, their sizes are more European so a 2 is more like a US 00. I ordered a size 4 and it was a bit of a snug fit. Too much Halloween candy… ;-) )
