Pants, Sweater, Necklace, Coat: JCrew Factory. c/o Shoes: similar. Clutch: similar.

One of the things I love most about the holidays is the excuse to get dressed up, a lot.  Not that I need much of an excuse, I’ve worn my tulle skirt to church before, but when you’re a mom of four, who works for yourself, there aren’t a lot of reasons to get dressed up very often.  With all the parties and get togethers, evenings out and the holidays themselves, this time of year provides ample opportunities to get dolled up.  Yes, please.

I love wearing a dress for holiday parties as much as the next girl, but I like to mix it up (especially for more casual events) with a cozy holiday look by pairing a pretty pair of festive trousers, like this green pair or even this gorgeous shimmery pair, a cozy sweater, and fun accessories, like leopard pumps and a little sparkle.

J.Crew factory has been my go-to for years for lovely pieces for the holidays and beyond.  I love all the great options for creating a layered look with fun prints and textures, especially when I’m creating a holiday look.

This lace dress would be perfect for a more formal holiday get-together, especially paired with some patterned tights, d’orsay pumps, this gorgeous bangle and a fun clutch.  These shimmery trousers would look great with this red tuxedo blouse and this necklace.  And if you’re really looking for some shimmer, this sequin skirt is perfect, especially paired with this bold red chunky turtleneck.

I love those pants – the colour – oooh! I actually had them in my ‘shopping bag’ before i saw your post. i’m unsure of pants sizing at j crew factory though. I’m in Canada, so shipping and returns are more expensive and i don’t want to risk a wrong size. I’m quite petite, like you. I’m 5’2″ and a muscular 108 lbs – i generally wear a size 25 or 0 (sometimes 00) at gap or madewell. How does the size of these pants compare?
Thanks so much – I enjoy reading your blog!
