Last Sunday, after church we went on a long family bike ride, our first of the season.  I say first, but the truth is my bike’s had a flat tire for over a year, so it’s been awhile since I last mounted my little yellow steed.

It was a bit of a circus navigating all of the kids across roads and finding our way through the trails, but mostly it was just fun.  Nothing makes you feel like a kid again quite like a bike ride. (Except maybe swinging.)  Anyway, we rode across a bunch of these charming little covered foot bridges and I just knew I had to come back and do a shoot here.  Little covered bridges over a creek running right through the middle of our city.  It’s just the sort of thing that makes my little charm loving heart burst.

It also reminded me exactly how excited I am for the summer months.  Summer, the season of all the outside things.  Beach days and bike rides and picnics; frizby, camping, and farmers markets.

It’s also the season for gingham prints and lighter brighter colors.  (I would say stripes too, but let’s be real, every season is a stripe season.)  One of the pieces I’ve been wanting to add to my closet for a long time is a great spring/summer blazer.  A blazer in a fun color in a lightweight fabric (like linen or cotton) is the perfect way to finish off an outfit in the warmer months and it also works great as a substitute for a light jacket on those cool spring/summer evenings.  I found this one last week and since mint is one of my favorite colors I couldn’t wait to try it out.  The sleeves are a little cropped, which makes them ideal for summer (although on me that means they’re basically just normal length) and it’s a super comfortable blazer.  Just what I was looking for.

I’m also loving some of the fun prints I’ve been seeing and other bold blazers.  See some of my favorites below:

ps. today is triple points day at Nordstrom if you’ve got a Nordstrom card (through Saturday, 7th) so it’s a great time to stock up on that pair of shoes or handbag you’ve been planning to purchase.  Here are a few of my current favorites:

I literally cannot get over how cute this whole pairing is. I don’t think I would have thought to pair those shoes with that shirt but the combo is perfect!
