You know what I love about summer? Getting dressed is so much simpler. Well, simpler in some ways. For a layers girl, like me, it can be trickier to feel put together. But on the other hand, dresses. Dresses are fashion’s gift to summer. They can be so simple, and yet, you always look a little more put together when you put on a dress. I picked up this pretty lightweight dress the other day while shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. At the time I thought it would be so perfect for fall paired with riding boots or booties, but then I decided I didn’t want to wait that long because it totally works for a summer dress too.
I also love that it’s a looser silhouette, up until this summer I had almost nothing in my closet like it, but I’ve been adding some pretty drop waist dresses and I just love how easy and casual they are. I love the fit on this one. It looks super short on the model, but for a petite girl like me, it works great and goes all the way to my knees. I actually tried it on layered with jeans in-store and I can’t wait to wear it like that during the fall (or maybe just on one of our many lame cold summer days lately.) It’s super cute. If I were taller, it would totally work at a tunic.
I thought it would be fun to show how simple and easy this dress transitions from day to night, even in the summer when I don’t want to add any extra layers. (Like a jacket or sweater.)
For the day look, I paired it with some comfy cognac flats, and this great cross body bag I picked up for under $40. Double benefit-the strap on the bag tucks in to become a clutch. So all you have to do is throw on a pair of tall wedges and voila`, date night.
PS. this is the last day to shop early access on the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Flood gates open to everyone else tomorrow, so if you’re a cardholder and there’s something you’ve been stalking, consider yourself warned. ;-)
