Top. (on sale for 2 more days.) Shorts.  WedgesBag. Sunglasses. lip color: Snob.

This time of year I like to purchase pieces that can easily transition from summer to fall.  While the weather yo-yoing between warm and cool can be tricky for getting dressed, it can offer an opportunity to mix it up a bit.  For example, the second I spotted this top I knew I wanted to wear it with my boyfriend shorts and a pair of sky high wedges.  (You guys, I’ve become seriously obsessed with these shorts, where have they been all my life?) These months between season are a great time to mix and match pieces from different seasons.  Like a long sleeved blouse or maybe even a sweater with shorts, or skinny jeans and a lightweight top with some fun sandals or flats.  Sometimes I think transition months are the most interesting to dress for.

I’ve had so much fun shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary sale this year, I’m kind of sad it’s ending in 3  days.  It always gets me excited for fall and kind of thinking in that direction (hello apple picking, pumpkin candles, back to school, turning leaves, cider, boots(!)-  I could go on and on…) Plus it’s been fun to message back and forth with a bunch of you ladies, and see the pieces you’ve snagged, and things we’ve both missed out on.  (Still lamenting the moto jacket…)

What I love about Nordstrom is that every time I’ve ordered something from the sale it’s on my doorstep within a few days, free shipping, no hassle.  The few pieces I’ve ordered that haven’t fit were super easy to return, no headaches, because they offer free return shipping as well.

I remember reading a case-study of Craig’s when he was doing his MBA.  It was about Nordstrom (so naturally I stole it out of his bag and read it) and how they’ve built their entire business on amazing customer service.  I gained so much respect for the brand and every time I open a package that was shipped to me for free, or shop in store and the sales clerk walks around the counter to hand me my bags, or after I’ve had my jeans hemmed and they call me later to make sure I’m still enjoying them, I remember that case study and kind of smile.  Because seriously, everyone loves Nordstrom.

ps. just in case you were looking at these wedges like “those are crazy impossible to walk in.” I thought the same thing, but they are surprisingly not.  The back strap takes a little breaking in before it’s comfortable, but the platform is a cinch to walk in.

Their customer service is the best! Last summer I met Bruce Nordstrom at a restaurant, funny enough we had horrible customer service at that restaurant. Apparently, he wrote a book on customer service for Nordstrom. I have always been a huge supporter of Nordstrom because they are so wonderful to their customers!
