a Stay At Home kind of day.

Sweater: Aeropostale ($12 marked down from $60-score!), Jeggings: Target, Shirt: Shade, Boots: Steve Madden, Belt: Downest Basics.

Yesterday our house was overrun by work-men.  We just celebrated our first houseiversary.  (One year in our house) And since we built new we have this divine little warranty where they come and fix any little quirks and problems that might have creeped up in the past year.  This means that for two days I am shackled to the house while I wait for plumbers, the tile guy, the sheet rock guy, the marble guy, the granite guy… you get the picture, to show up between 8- 2:30.  Side note:  why can’t they give you a bit more specifics on the time when they are going to show up.  Can you imagine the situation in reverse?  Hey Dr. I need an appointment, I’ll be there between 8 and noon.  Whatever.  Anyways, so I spent all day taking down the Christmas decorations and digging through the garage for the boxes to put them in.  Oh yeah, and building a sa-weet hotwheel ramp with the boys.  But that part was fun.  It was a typical “stay at home” mom day.  Which means I pushed furniture around, cleaned a bathroom, bathed three kids, made lunches, wiped noses, yadi yadi ya.  Have you noticed that most style isn’t very functional?  I look at a lot of style blogs, and I think, “Wow, that’s cute, or she looks amazing, but I could never wear that while… doing pretty much anything a mom has to do everyday.” I want to look good everyday, but the outfit has to be functional too.  I can’t stay perfectly tucked and quaffed.  My boys are like Labrador puppies, they like to wrestle. There are days when I know I could get away with wearing sweatpants and not fixing my hair, because nobody sees me but my kids (and they don’t care… well maybe Hannah does) but I put on something pretty, straighten out my hair and do a little makeup anyway.  Staying at home doesn’t have to mean frumpy.

So comfy and cute! I love the belt like that. I’ve seen that on a few blogs, but haven’t tried it out yet.
