Guess who came home last night? Woo to the Hoo! After he carried in his teaspoon sized suitcase, changed out of his slacks and delved out the goods to his willing fans, my husband made me really really jealous describing all the rain and trees and coastal homes in Seattle. I miss vegetation. I miss the ocean. I miss homes not made of stucco and painted brown. I’m not kidding. Every house in the entire state of Arizona is painted some varying shade of brown. (As if there wasn’t already enough of that everywhere) I’m also in no way ready for it to start getting hot again, but I can feel it coming in the air. We had maybe a week of what possibly could be classified as cold weather, and then we’re back to the mid 70’s. I actually like the rain, I wouldn’t mind a little.

My husband brings the best gifts home when he goes out of town. The boys got mini buckets filled with little sharks and whales (huge hit), Hannah got a little stuffed raccoon (the girl is obsessed with plush hugable toys), and I got Washington Sockeye Salmon (I’m seafood obsessed) and a tin of European dark chocolate cocoa. Yum. The best gift by far? Sleeping next to him last night. I tell you what, I am not a fan of sleeping alone.
Oh, and I’m having cinnamon toast for breakfast. Life is good.
The outfit and how it worked: I really love pairing navy with gray. I try not to wear that color scheme everyday, but it’s hard. These boyfriend jeans are the bomb, and I really love that if I roll them different ways it changes the look of the pants. The flats are comfy and versatile. A casual outfit for a casual day.
That’s funny, Cori, because my sister lives in Seattle and just posted on facebook yesterday how she is sick of never seeing the sun. I guess both cities have their pros and cons. Maybe if you could mix the two together, it’d be perfect (like California weather :) I love the outfit!
Great jumping picture! Looks like you got some serious vertical. =) And I can definitely relate to the stucco-everywhere-you-look syndrome. I grew up in St. George, Utah, and in the area where I lived, new houses were going up nonstop, and they all looked eerily similar to each other. It’s great to live in a neighborhood that’s a bit older now; I think the house-building took place a bit more gradually, so the housing styles are diverse. Such a nice change!
I’m feeling a return trip to the Northwest as well. How about we go together? I can pack you in my suitcase, so we’ll save some dough. =) Oh, last thing: great jeans.
It took me a really long time to appreciate the beauty of desert landscape too. I still miss green sometimes.
