Last May, my husband went to China. He spent two weeks exploring the far east, eating interesting foods, running across The (actual) Great Wall, and buying me lots and lots of souvenirs. Among the loot that he carted 10,000 miles back to me, was this phenomenal jade bracelet.
I’m a big believer in accessories. Let’s look at this outfit, for example. Besides the fabulous stripes and the ruffled embellishments, it’s just a shirt and a cardigan. But you add a skinny belt, some vintage earrings, an over sized brooch, and of course my jade beauty, and voila, a finished look.
Just as I do with outfit structures and styles, I tend to lean towards certain accessories as well. Over-sized brooches, skinny belts, statement rings, and chunky stud earrings all frequently ornament my various clothing choices. And to me, they can take an outfit from half baked, to a finished product.
I know there are rules for petites about wearing jewelry that’s too large, but when it comes to brooches, I just don’t care. The bigger the better…

Love this outfit so much. For me, it’s usually all about the earrings. I really don’t wear any other jewelry besides earrings, so the bigger and bolder, the better :)

wow, this outfit is simply wonderful!! i never would’ve thought to combine lime and plum, but it really works. and the jade bracelet is lovely! i actually have relatives that have worn this since they were little and 20 years later they can’t even take it off as their wrists have gotten bigger. but it’s a classic piece and looks great with everything. your hubby was so sweet to bring it back for you!

You dress your petite frame beautifully. At five even, I know from personal experience that it can be tough finding clothes and the right styles.
Love the cardigan. I would say my fave accessories are hats and scarves. I do have a couple brooches, but need more!
