i call them my elf shoes.

Dress: Gift from my darling hubs (Downeast Basics), Shoes: Gift from my sister Tashi, Blouse: The Loft, Belt:??, Necklace/Earrings: ??
And they make me feel fabulous.  As does this lovely dress; it’s so twirly.  Yes, twirly.  I just made that up.
90 percent of the stuff I’m wearing is at least 4 years old.  I hadn’t worn this dress in probably 2 years, when I was rummaging through my closet looking for something to wear to church and suddenly this outfit just materialized in my mind.  I love it when that happens, even if it is rare, because it’s so effortless.

I know that chunky belts are a big no no for petites, but I don’t really care.  I love them paired with classic dress.  If it makes my torso look super short, don’t tell me.  I may cry.  I changed this dress into a skirt by adding a blouse from the Loft and tucking it up into the fat belt.  Voila!  Same dress, way different look.  And I love that the tuxedo neckline peeks out from the blouse.  Even old dresses can get new life with a few updates.

See, twirly, twirly.

  1. Ahhh, I love how you updated your dress! Twirly dresses/skirts make me happy, too. :D I actually didn’t know that big belts weren’t good for petite ladies (I’m 5′ so I’ll try to remember that tip… but I have a big belt that I love so I’m pretty sure I’m still going to wear it, lol). Nevertheless, your outfit looks really good. :)

LOVE this dress! Twirly dresses are the best, even as adults :) And I think the chunky belt is perfect on you. Defines your waist.

  9. Rules schmules – that belt is A WINNER! I don’t think it gives you a short torso at all. It’s perfect with the silhouette of the dress. And I love all the green, dude. Perfection!

I love the little sweater over the dress. I have this half sweater that I’ve had no clue how to wear yet, but I think I might try something similar to this! Thanks for the inspirations! You’re outfit is so cute!
