legit.

Cropped Trousers: Old Navy ($7-woot woot). Striped Shirt: Forever 21. Blazer: The Loft. Ballet flats, Watch and Ring: Target. Necklace/Earrings: Ross. Tulle Brooch: Made by Me.

After reading Kelly’s post about pairing a striped shirt with a blazer, rather than buying a striped blazer, I decided I simply must try this look out as well.  My cropped blazer hadn’t seen much love for the past couple months so I thought I better pull her out so she wouldn’t think I’d been cheating on her with my boyfriend blazer.  (I kind of have, but shhh, don’t tell.)  How else would I pair this little cropped blazer than with my little cropped trousers?  I can’t believe this never occurred to me before I meandered into my closet and let the outfit materialize virtually on it’s own.  This whole get-up was effortless.  From the wavy hair, to the ballet flats.  Put together and comfortable at the same time.  Proving once again that you don’t have to have “Pink” written across your velour covered behind to feel at home in your clothes.

And while we’re on the subject let me just rant for a second.  Moms, please stop running errands in the middle of the day in your sweatsuits/workout clothes.  Seriously, there is like an epidemic going on out there.  I must have seen 20 different women in Target today and maybe 3 of them were actually dressed with their hair fixed.  I do not understand this.  Why do women do this?  Why do they stop trying when they get married?  Don’t they still want their husband to think they are hot?  I do.  And let me tell you, I’d be mortified if he came home in the middle of the day and I was still in my jamies.  To say nothing about going out in public like that.

“I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little – if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.” – Coco Chanel.
I love it when my opinions albeit strong and slightly self-righteous are backed up, by pretty much the classiest most awesome woman in history.  It makes me feel so legit.
And the word legit just makes me think of MC Hammer.  Classiness is gone.  Shoot.

You are legit. Too legit. 2 legit 2 quit. I’m not a mom, and I work a 9-5, but I know that on those days that just bum around and don’t get dressed up, I feel gross and not as good about myself. Dressing nicely, for me, isn’t about how I look, but how I feel. Ok, how I look is part of it.

I could not agree with you more! We have been sick for a few weeks and there has been a lot of sweatpant action goin’ on around here. I feel so much better when I am dressed and ready to go!

Love your blog! I appreciate you showing more affordable options.

Amen to the anti-sweats in public movement! It takes 5 seconds to throw some pants on? I refuse to walk outside without an outfit on & at least minimal makeup.
At home however… I work at home starting at 5:30am; ain’t no way I’m getting dressed that early. No matter how much I love my hubby. :)

Yeah, I usually make a effort to look nice everyday. I’m only married so I don’t think it’s hard right now, but I’ll get back to you once I have children.
