Just in case you thought I was on the fence about going monochromatic, let me reassure you by cladding myself in head to mid-calf pink. Also, I hate when people call coral pink. But there I just did it.
And now, a few other random nuggets buzzing around my head this morning…
Random Nugget #1: I don’t like my arms. There I said it. They aren’t all skinny and tiny, and I really wish they were. In high school when I was a cheerleader getting chucked in the air all the time, they were really nice and muscular, but now, they just look kind of bulky and flabby. Whenever I go to the gym and try to “work my arms” I just end up picking up a pair of 5 pound weights and moving them around for a bit until I feel like a monkey. Then I go put the weights back on the rack and leave the gym in shame. Last night, I finally solicited Mr. for some help. The man has some seriously ripped arms. I mean veins and all. So sexy. Anyways, he gave me all these amazing exercises to do this morning, and holy cow. I finally got an arm workout! And also, my arms feel like jello now.
Random Nugget #2: Yesterday, Hannah started school again, and she rode the bus for the first time. (cue dramatic music). We showed up at the stop about 15 minutes early, just to be safe, and then the bus was ten minutes late. It was getting so close to the time that school starts and still no bus that I panicked and started walking her back home so I could drive her. As soon as we get about 200 feet from the bus stop I hear the bus, so we go sprinting back to the stop. Yeah, we looked like real winners. “I swear we’ve been here for the last 25 minutes!” Also, I think I’m an embarrassing mom. I would have been mortified if my mom had gone sprinting up to the bus stop dragging me along with her. Whoops.
Random Nugget #3: After my blunder-ous typo on Monday, I’ve been making all these almost typos left and right and then (thankfully) catching myself. Did I open the idiot floodgate in my brain or something?
Random Nugget #4: I’ve been getting a lot of emails from all these lovely ladies asking me how to build a wardrobe on a small budget. I’ve kinda been thinking about doing some posts about that, all my tips of frugality, maybe even a linky-type party (if I can figure out how to do it) so we can all help each other get dressed on a dime. Any thoughts? Do we like this idea? Totally ridiculous? Let me know.
Also, it’s Wednesday. We are only a few days away from a 3 day weekend!
We are the same height and I am always inspired when you pull off capris effortlessly! Rock on hot mama :) I totally can relate to the “arm thing” but ummm… yeah… you look freakin fabulous so I don’t know what you’re talking about ;) Have a great rest of your hump day!!
I think your arms look great! And now, it sounds as if they are gonna look even better now that your buffing them up :) I wish I was an english major instead of economics.. then maybe I would be able to write a decent post without feeling like it never makes sense.. and when I run my spell check, it highlights so many mistakes it’s kind of embarrassing. Are you kidding?? I think posts with your thoughts/tips is a fabulous idea! I think your style is one that many of us can recreate and be inspired by! You manage to wear trendy styles (color, silhouettes, etc) and yet still make it look wearable for us moms who are running around like crazy with kids. And you are a great bargain shopper :)
Love the monochromatic coral look! And I think you look great — but I know what you mean about wanting ripped arms. I recently starting doing more strength training DVDs along with my cardio and hoping for some results!! I would love some ideas on building wardrobes on a budget. I don’t have a blog, but I am a clothes-aholic. I love mixing Forever 21 pieces and other budget pieces in with more high end stuff (that I snag on sale).
I’m sorry but the “arms” comment cracked me up! In my family I refer to them as lumberjack arms. See, in school I was power lifter (not to be mistaken with body builder…haha!) But I was the girl on the cheer squad throwing girls like you up in the air. Now, 6 kids later, they’re just lumberjack arms…big, strong still, but just ….okay let’s talk about something else! ;)
i am always looking for fashion on a budget. i’m starting to realize that i need more functional, timeless pieces in my wardrobe. hence my shopping sprees. huzzah.
Somehow when I try to go monochromatic, it just looks stupid, but you make it work! So cute and I second everything you said about your arms, I have the same exact problem. Just can’t get them to look all lean and awesome!
Hi. I’m Kristi and I’m a lurker. But I am commenting today to say I LOVE the idea! Please help me have a gorgeous wardrobe like yours without going broke!
I think your arms are GREAT! And your idiot floodgate thing got me cracking up! And I love the budget idea!!!! (of course, I was one of the people who wrote you!!)
I need to tone my arms too so I can avoid the retched flapping teacher arm (you know, when a teacher writes on the chalkboard and their upper arm is flapping all over the place). So please share the amazing arm workout!
Coral is one of my favorite colors! My husband always calls it pink but I agree that is so it’s very own color!
PS- Love your blog! I am SUPER short too. 5 foot nothing. & we have a lot of the same clothes from The Loft haha. Of course you make them look 100 million times better.
I love the entire look. Beautiful pics too! You are a great model. This is only my third week linking up at WIWW.
I currently have a fun anything goes linky at my blog that runs Friday through Monday each week. I just announced a new monthly “desperate 4 date night” linky and would love for you to join in on the fun. Here is the link explaing more.
love it, and I love pink/coral :) And also, your arms do NOT look bulky or flabby. In the least!
