ask me anything.

Gingham top: Made by me.  Sweater: Target. Boyfriend Crops: Gap. Shoes: Old Navy.  Bracelets: H&M

Blah, blah, blah,

I made this shirt.

I really wanted something gingham for the fall and for some reason this was too much to ask any store in the area.  (I know, I can’t believe they don’t cater specifically to me either) Since I’m too impatient to wait, I just went ahead and made one for myself.  So there!  I really love gingham, even though I sort of felt like I should be draped across a picnic table all day. (Hence the picnic table)  It also makes me think of fall and riding out to Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm, the place where my parents took us every year to get our pumpkins. It’s one of the things I miss most about California.  That, and Apple Hill, and Alder Creek.  I realize that unless you are my sibling/cousin/or Sacramento Native you probably won’t have a clue what I’m talking about.  My apologies.  This morning, I’m random.

Speaking of random, do you have any random question you want to ask me?  I’m going to finally answer all the FAQ’s I’ve been getting, since I am terrible at responding to emails in a timely matter.  So now’s your chance…

ask me anything.

What is your typical day like? I just switched over from a full time working Mom to a stay at home Mom and I am having a hard time getting motivated to get out of my sweats. Do you get dressed everyday before the kids wake up? Do you have activities planned to do with the kids each day? I am still trying to figure out this balance. Thanks!

It’s like you read my mind. I had just been hoping you would do a post like this b/c I have a kind of random question.
When I first came to your blog, one of my first thoughts was “wow, she has the most gorgeous eyebrows”. I know you are thinking eyebrows? really? But I really think that grooming ones eyebrows is important and it can really help frame facial features….or whatever, but you get the point.

Do you have any tips or routine to have such awesome brows, or were you just born with them….if so I’m totally jealous. ;)

And the cut of the shirt you made is great. I wish I had an ounce of your talent.

Ok, here are my questions since I’m a little into photography- your photos always look great, so who takes your pictures? Does your husband really take your picture everyday (cuz I know mine wouldn’t have time, or patience for that- ha!) or do you use a tripod? And also, what kind of camera and lens do you use?

I’m a fairly new follower here and really love your style. I’ve been pregnant or nursing for like EVER – no, not really only for the last 4.5 years….3 kids later I really need a style update. I’m working on deciding my style based on your post where you talked about that.

Seems everyone wants to know about your top…me too! I do sew and would love to know what pattern you used. Also, what pattern do you use for the striped skirts (the full high-waisted ones) I’ve seen you wearing in several posts? I think they are great! And where did you get the striped fabric? I’ve searched my local stores, but no luck. Prob gonna have to order online :)
Thanks so much for your style inspiration and keep up the fashionable work!

I just love coming to read this blog every week. I find it so inspirational. I am actually really tall and have different problems (i.e., clothes being always too short and stores only caring one 9.5 shoe size per season per style). Yet, I find a common ground in trying to overcome those difficulties in a positive, creative way. Putting outfits together is not a natural talent for me. Just one more reason why I appreciate all the fun outfits you share. It’s just fantastic. I am thankful I have reached a point in my life and motherhood where I give myself permission to take a little more time to cultivate personal style. Thanks for writing this blog it’s not just fun, it’s meaningful. : )

Hi Cori! How do you keep your outfits organized so you know what goes with what and you can easily plan things out? My closet it is clean and neat but I still end up wearing the same 4-5 outfits over and over again. Any tips?

I’m from Sacramento, and I definitely miss Apple Hill (among many other things)! You’re top is so cute, where did you learn to sew? My grandma taught me when I was little, but I wasn’t really into it then. Now that I’m older and want to make my own clothes, I realize I don’t know how! haha! I’m new to your blog too, but you are an inspiration, so thank you :)

My question: How do you find such great stuff at Ross and thrift stores? I made a trip to Ross and Marshalls and found nada. I never seem to find the cool stuff from thrift stores, either. I do wait until stuff goes on sale online and get great deals that way. But I need your hints of how you discover your thrifty finds!!

I love you blog! So I’m wondering how you got yourself and blog out so that lots of people are reading it? I’m not trying to be the self centered person here at all – I’m just curious as to how you get yourself known. One more thing – how do you balance it all? I’m a working college student who can barely blog for a half hour a day, so I can’t imagine how you do it!

    thanks :)

  32. I loved your blog since the first day I read it (recommended by Alterations Needed) since April to be exact. After reading for two months I decided to make a blog too. I think it is so much fun.
But, what I like the most about your blog is how similar we are. I also love that you love God. You have beautiful family.
Reading your blog everyday I feel like I know you and we are best friends :-)
Finally, here is my question. How do you manage to do your chores, going to school, taking care of your husband and kids, and DIY proyects?.
I only have 2 kids, I like sewing and DIY proyects too but it seems that time goes flying and I see myself not doing much. What’s your secret?
