It was taken too late, the sky was too dark and rainy, headlights, blah blah not a good combo.
Not feeling fantastic today. I think I’m going to lay low.
And by lay low, I mean do all the regular household stuff I would have done anyway.
Mom’s don’t get sick days.
But maybe I’ll drink my favorite European Hot Chocolate, and eat some of my homemade french bread with melted butter on top, because that always seems to help.
In the meantime, should you live in the area, or anywhere with a comparable climate, might you suggest weather appropriate shoes for Seattle? I realize that living on the sun for the past few years has left me poorly equipped.
Your question is one I ask myself every day during the winter here in Spokane. My family and I moved here last year after living in SoCal my whole life, so I definitely feel your pain. Flip-flops and sandal-y shoes were an everyday thing. Most of last winter (since it snows here more than Seattle AND it seems to stick around f.o.r.e.v.e.r.) I spent a lot of time in jeans and weather proof boots by Merrell. Clogs have also found their way into my closet (never thought that would happen) as they have a tad more style (sometimes) than just a weather proof boot and they give a little height so your pant hems don’t get quite as wet from puddles. That’s my theory anyway. :) . REI may become your go-to shoe store for as long as you’re here this winter. ;) Each day I mourned for all my cute shoes although some days I bit the bullet and wore flats even though my feet froze. If you come up with anything, do share!! :) Feel better! Warm bread and butter makes me feel good, too.
I just moved from Portland where I spent most of winter in boots – rain boots for out and about, weatherproof but still cute boots for work and Gortex (I have Solomans) trail/tennis shoes for days when you do a lot of walking. Like Kori said, they keep your pants away from puddles. You can also get boot liners for your rain boots if you find your feet get cold come December/January.
Growing up in Seattle, I seemed to always be without an umbrella, but lived in my boots. Your umbrella, however is adorable and I actually love this picture even though it is dark. You should get some wellies! They look super cute with the boots socks!
I am in love with your umbrella! And your whole outfit! I have been living in AZ most of my life so I don’t have any rain shoe tricks. Other than rainboots but you have some of those and they don’t work with every outfit like I wish they did! :]
We wear regular boots and rain boots…like crazy! Its the only way to survive with dry feet! :) I live in Oregon where it rains a ton, but I don’t think nearly as often as in Washington. I have been considering an umbrella, since not all of my coats have a hood. I am from California, so I understand the whole “what the heck is this?” with the weather! lol :)
I have heard Hunter Wellies are the best. Try the little girls sizes, they are 1/2 the price and will work perfectly on your petite frame. I know a few girls who rock the girls Wellies and they look great!
im from georgia so i dont have any good recommendations for shoes… but i sure do hope you feel better! ive been feeling crummy myself, and hot tea has been my best friend.
So sorry you’ve been feeling under the weather. That’s actually been our house too. Me, my hubs, and all the kids at one point or another. Not fun. I’m blaming it on school germs. . . I have no idea how to be fashionable, and keep your feet dry here, and I’ve lived here for almost 9 years. So, I just choose to be un-fashionable, I guess, or else just always have wet feet. The bottoms of my jeans are always wet when I wear cute shoes, that aren’t boots. I know you will find a way. You’re a clever clever girl. . . Let’s chat soon. I’ve been way too anti-social lately.
I am going to lose 40 pounds (really this time!) and grow my hair long because I wanna look like you. Is that lame-o? Seriously though…your hot. And in more seriousness when I first stumbled across your blog I admittedly felt like it was kind of superficial until I read a few more posts and couldn’t resist. And then I found that in little itty bitty ways every day you were inspiring me. I didn’t notice until I caught myself putting on a necklace and taking off my yoga pants to go to the store and I thought “Cori has snuck into my life!” In the best possible way! I am a full time mom…a gig that I adore but doesn’t give me much to dress up for (or lose the baby weight for) …or so I thought! But how wrong I was! I feel better about myself when I take time for myself…even just for a necklace. It says “I matter”. That is not superficial, that is awesome…and for that I owe you a big thank you!!! :)
I actually LOVE the picture!!! I stared at thinking how awesome it looks! It’s totally different and that’s what I love the most. The headlights are an awesome touch. You look adorable (even not feeling well) it totally looks like a model pic.
Rain boots, for sure! And they make so many cute ones now. New follower here =) Love your style && I rock the height of 4’11”. It’s hard for me to find good jeans that don’t make me look/feel stumpy sometimes!
Honestly it never rains here so I’m n help :( but 70 days over 100 degrees? I’m your girl. I want to thank you for the recommendation for the hair oil. I love it!!!
just ran in to your blog, and so excited i did! great!! i am a new follower. i’d love if you stopped by sometime! {love} lauryn @ lovenotesbylauryn.blogspot.com
Rain boots for sure! That is really your safest bet if you do not want to get your feat or bottoms of your jeans wet.
hunter boots. flats in your purse. the cure all for rainy northwest days!

Keens and Dansko. I resisted getting Danskos, but finally bought a shiny pair and love them on rainy days.
I was actually thinking this picture looked pretty cool! I don’t think you could really take a bad picture :)

your hunter boots should do. My nephew live in Seattle and I’ve been dying to go visit. I love rainy days, thus loving the photo.

Might I suggest your robins egg blue Hunters?! Those things are to die for. They might help cheer you up as well…but don’t skip the hot chocolate :)
They aren’t the cutest things in the world, but by far the most comfortable and I wear them every time it rains or shines. CHACOS! :)
I work 50+ hours a week and also wish I got a sick day!
I also live in Seattle, and I wear rubber soled shoes/ flats whenever possible, or rain boots! Definitely no suede shoes for me!

your outfit is so autumn-y, i love it. we don’t really get autumn in hawaii, so ANY type of fall weather would be appreciated..

Rains and grey skies can get you.. try DSW for the weatherproof boots. I got mine from there.
Love your pic! reminds me of the olden goldies :)
I actually really like this picture! I think the lighting is very dramatic and you have a mysterious look on your face. I think it’s cool :)

I think that picture would look pretty cool if you ran it through an action in Photoshop. It’s screaming for it.
Indeed, you hit Seattle at the good weather stage. Now you get to learn what Seattle is all about during the rest of the year.

I love this photo – you look like Ali McGraw from a Love Story. Cute, cute, cute, very retro-chic.
