hope.

Skirt: Made by me.  Chambray Shirt: H&M.  Jacket/Brooch: The Loft.  Shoes: Target.  Earrings: Fred Meyer.  Hope Necklace: c/oSprightly So.

I’ve been thinking about hope today, and how it adorns almost everything we do in life, even if we don’t realize it.  I mean, we all hope for something, even if it’s that the toast won’t burn or your son won’t throw a fit in the store, or that the treadmill was serious when it said you burnt as many calories as it said you burned.

I spent years hoping my badly behaved middle child was just going through a phase and that his antics weren’t a life sentence.  Hoping that I was doing the right thing when I ignored everyone telling me to take him to a Dr. because there must be something wrong with him.  Hoping that my motherly intuition was telling me the right thing, and that God would give me enough patience to withstand all the temper tantrums, all the public humiliation, and discouragement.

And then one day, all those things I had been hoping for, came.

And little Carter stopped acting so out of control and crazy and mean.  And I was really glad I didn’t have him labeled for life.

The point is.  Hope is a powerful motivator.

It can get you through things, make happy things more joyful, and motivate you to push yourself a little harder.

That’s why, when cute little Abbey from Along Abbey Road asked me if I wanted a necklace from her lovely little shop, I knew just which one I wanted…

Isn’t it darling?  So dainty and uniquely hand stamped.  And I love the pink sparkly breast cancer awareness ribbon.

I tell you what.  Abbey is just a cutie, all blooming with her first little munchkin.  I wish I had looked that good the first time I was with child.  She’s got this darling little shop called Sprightly So on her blog where she sells hand-stamped jewelry.  See:

cute.

Not only that, Abbey donates 10% of every sale to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and 50% of the sale of every Hope necklace to the BCRF, which honestly just touches my heart.  I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been affected in some way or another by cancer.  I personally have a very sensitive place in my heart when it comes to cancer.  (Someday I’ll tell you about it.)  As it is Breast Cancer Awareness month Abbey is trying earn 100$ by the end of October to donate, and has almost reached her goal.  ($82.80!)  Just a bit more to go, so help her out and get something lovely from her shop.

So today, Adorable Abbey is giving away one of her necklaces from her fabulous little shop to one of you darling readers.

(and you get to pick which one!  Yay!)

To enter:

Visit Abbey’s shop here and tell me which necklace is your fave!

PLEASE LEAVE SEPARATE COMMENTS SO MY HEAD DOESN’T EXPLODE. k, thanks.

Giveaway ends next Tuesday.  Hurry your little buns up and enter!

I hope you have a fabulous day.

  68. My middle child is also difficult and I know it’s just his age(he’s nearly 3). He’s so curious and can be destructive b/c of it. He’s only interested in doing what he wants and also throws fits if he can’t. There are other aspects of his personality that are difficult I won’t get into. I know how you feel and am glad to hear my hope isn’t in vain. Thank you.

I’m so glad things worked out with you and your son. But as a special education teacher and loving aunt to an amazing little boy with severe ADHD, I just want people to be careful not to always wait it out. Sometimes its good to see a doctor, even its just to hear a doctor say to give it time. If there is something there, its better to find out earlier. Because it doesn’t mean there is something wrong with that child. It just means that he/she functions a certain way. It means that adults in his/her life can give the child strategies to help him/her be successful.

I’m new to your blog but I really love it! Your words in this post really hit close to home with me. I too have a difficult 4 yr old and I totally understand what you mean about the challenges and public humiliation that comes with the tantrums whenever we are out in public. I am still holding on to the hope that one day soon she will grow out of it, but it seems so unlikely. I’m glad to hear your son is better! Gives me some hope! Keep blogging! You have great style and a beautiful family!
