dressed on a dime: be bold.

Sweater ($10), Ruffled Shell ($15): The Loft.  Skirt($4): Vintage Nordstroms thrifted.   Sweater tights($2): Ross.  Shoes($4): Target.  Jewelry: Gift.

Total cost: $35

I have two words for you.

Sweater tights.

Soooooooo warm.  I’m in love.

This doesn’t really have a lot to do with dressing on a dime, I just thought I would point out that sweater tights are the bomb.

Except that 4 years ago, I never would have worn this.  The outfit wouldn’t have even occurred to me, to say nothing of the fact that I wouldn’t have had the guts to stroll into church wearing (not only) a purple cardigan, and pencil skirt, but also purple sweater tights.

Hi, I’m Cori.  I like purple.

Tip: Be Bold.

As you build your wardrobe, remind yourself to branch out.  Don’t be a scaredy-cat with your closet.  Try new things, wear something a little bit “scary” for you.  Don’t be afraid to go bold.  What’s the worst that can happen?  Somebody doesn’t like your outfit?

Meh, who cares.

It’s better to fail trying than never try at all.

“Be who you are and say [or wear] what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”

-Dr. Suess.

In other news, I’m winging my way south this afternoon to the land of the sun.  Time to check on the AZ house, make sure all is in order, the lawn is getting mowed, nothing is broken/leaking/etc. and other  such grown up type things.
Which always make me feel like an impostor.  I think I’ve mentioned this before?

Say a little prayer that my family is safe in my absence.
I hate being away from Mr. and the littles.

  3. Thanks for the reminder about being bold. I always “save” outfits until I have a special occasion/place to wear them but this reminds me to be bold with everyday outfits. :)

You’ve inspired me to change my wardrobe in so many ways. I was the one spending $200-$300 every shopping trip to Buckle. Now I’m so frugal with my money. I go to Goodwill about once a week, and end up spending less than $20 each time. Thank you Cori for inspiring everyone to be bold :). You’re awesome!

  17. Great tip! I totally agree with you, just be bold and do it, all though I’ve come quite a long way, sometimes I have to remind myself to just give the outfit a try when I’m unsure! Love the ruffly blouse, gorgeous!

I found you on pinterest and I love your style! I am a Loft girl and I just love how you piece your outfits together. I wore mustard colored tights yesterday to work and had a few, “Wow, those are some yellow tights!” (not in a good way) and I said, “Yep. They sure are!” Felt great to step outside of my comfort zone. Thanks for inspiration!
