rouge.

Cloche, Long Pea Coat: Old Navy. Gingham shirt: Old Navy(thrifted). Pants: Banana Republic (Thrifted). Bauble Necklace: Walmart. Shoes: Thrifted. Peacock Ring: Gift. Lipstick: MAC pro longwear lipcolour (lasting lust)

Bright red lipstick used to genuinely scare the heck out of me.
And by used to, I mean last week.
Even after my bold trip to the MAC counter, I didn’t have the guts to put this stuff on.
Until this morning.
I woke up, and it was a red lipstick day.

I felt a little silly smearing this stuff on my lips this morning. Especially since both male littles kept looking at me like I was nuts all day. You know that look. When they sort of tilt their head to the side, scrunch up their lips, and partially close one eye as if to say, “Mom, what happened to your face?”
Typical.
The little of the female variety was, however, a big fan of it. This I know because she said ,”oh, you’re so beautiful mom!” like half a dozen times.

And then the girl at the service desk in Safeway went on for like ten minutes telling me how much she loved my make-up and how it looked all professional.
(okay, it wasn’t that long, but you get the picture)

And then a man I don’t know gave me a kind of pleased head nod on the way out the door. Whatever that’s supposed to mean, I don’t know.

But I decided,
I love red lipstick.

If you happen to be in the market, this stuff is amazing. You have to have a steady hand for the application, but once it’s on, this baby stays put. And I mean it stays put like all day, you can’t even kiss it off. Trust me, I tested it out on Mr.

(He didn’t mind.)

I am however going to go against the grain. You are such a beautiful girl. Honestly. And I do love the red lipstick… lots! I just hope we see the more natural you make a come back soon.

As much fun as it is to play with makeup, I think your a winner with out it being so heavy. For sure play with these looks, but you are so beautiful with out having it piled on.

This is coming from a makeup artist who has worked on numerous fashion weeks, celebs etc.

Don’t get me wrong, I think you have done a stellar job, and love that your mixing it up, I just think you are so fortunate to be able to pull off such a stunning look with out it.
