things that are just wrong.

Colorblock Sweater/Coat: Old Navy.  Black skinny yeans/white ruffle shirt: The Loft.  Shoes: Target.  Purse: Thrifted.

Do you ever have moments during your day where you see something and think to yourself, “That’s just wrong.”

I seem to have them frequently.

Specifically any time I venture out in public.

For instance, yesterday.

Went to Costco to pick up our Christmas card pictures (look out family, they’re coming to you) and as I was scouting out a parking spot I glimpsed a man; must have been mid-late 40’s wearing a pair of light wash “dad” style denim (you know what I’m talking about).  Just a shade away from acid wash.   And paired with those fabulous pants, were a pair of Uggs.

All I could think was, “that’s just wrong” and then I averted my eyes because I was embarrassed for him.

The thing was, he didn’t look like some emo weirdo/metro type.  He looked like a normal dad.  Except wearing Uggs.  That looked like they might possibly belong to his wife.

And I feel like he should have known better.

Because Uggs don’t just happen, you have to go out of your way to wear them.

Something else that’s just wrong?

The idiots in Congress spending a whole bunch of time reminding everyone that it’s no longer socially acceptable to wish people Merry Christmas.

Maybe I’m naive, but I can’t imagine all the fabulous people out there who don’t happen to celebrate Christmas are going to be offended by someone wishing them happiness during this festive time of year.

I mean if someone actually wished me a Happy Hanukkah, I’d kinda love it.

It certainly wouldn’t offend me.

But a bunch of men telling me that I should be ashamed of something I cherish?

That’s just wrong.

  3. Preach it Cori!
Let’s take a moment to be brutally honest, many of us have the day after Christmas off of work and all the kids are out of school. Why? Not because some genius woke up and said “let’s give everyone December 26th off.” But because its Christmas. So even if you do not celebrate it you still get the day off. And that is ALWAYS a reason for celebration. So yes, Merry Christmas. And on the 26th Happy Kwanzza!

what’s wrong: people being nasty in stores during christmas time. also people stealing the parking spot you were waiting for for 10 minutes and just pull into it. (why does it only happen around Christmas time? aren’t we supposed to be even more kind, loving and considerate of others during this time??)
i refuse to let them squelsh my christmas spirit! :)

  14. I think it’s Congress just wanting to take anything God/ Christ related out of our nation. Since when did they care about offending? I heard of a “Holiday Shrub” instead of Christmas tree. If you don’t celebrate Christmas, why would you need a festive tree in your living room?

  19. Our hostess at Oregano’s yesterday wearing bootie shorts and a big ol’ sweatshirt was just wrong, as well as the big display of Valentine’s Day stuff already at Fry’s Marketplace the week. Hmpf. :(

Love the pop of your yellow bag with what you’re wearing.

Hhahaa… we are Australian and thus we know what Uggs were before they became everyday outside shoes: they’re slippers. My husband – like that guys – has a pair and while he’d die to wear them outside doing the grocery run, he knows they are for indoor only (lucky his wife has a say in that!) and me, my Uggs are only worn outside if I’m collecting the mail or really, really sick! Also, Merry Christmas!! (i’ve received plenty of weird looks when I’ve said that rather than Happy Holidays this year…’ it’s ridiculous considering I’m coming from a Jewish-Christian household and really i should be allowed to say whatever i want….)

Maybe you should research just what exactly Congress banned- it wasn’t the term “Merry Christmas”, but the act of sending personal greeting cards of any kind in federal mail on taxpayers dollars. Nothing to do with being politically correct. A little research is “so right” in my opinion.

  24. I feel this post kind of turned into pointing out what is wrong with people (shoes, overweight, rudeness). Wow – not the way I wanted to start my day. Bummer…
