this is so much fun.

Skirt: Made by me.  Blouse/ Belt: Thrifted.  Purse: Vintage. Shoes: Guess (via Ross.) Necklace: NY&Co.  Brooch: Hobby Lobby.  Earrings: Gift. Sunnys: Oscar de la Renta.

In case you didn’t read the previous post, Mr. took me skiing for our date on Saturday night.

It was perfect.

And even though I hadn’t skied since 2006, (Seriously, I checked the old lift ticket on my jacket) before our 3rd (who’s now 4 1/2) was born, I did pretty good.  Mr. said so, and Mr. is like a really amazing skier, so I believe him.

Anyways, about half way through the night we were riding the lift up to the top of the mountain, my skis dangling  above the snowy hillside forty feet below, my head on Mr.’s shoulder, enjoying the quiet serenity that happens to a hillside when it’s covered in snow muffling all the sound.

Then suddenly, a man came flying down the black diamond run just below us, cutting gracefully back and forth down the hillside and yelling “Wahoo!” the whole time.   I saw his face just before he passed under our feet, he stood up a little straighter and yelled out,

 “This is so much fun!”

My goodness, why not?

  I thought to myself.

I started cracking up, turned to Mr. and said, “That is the most awesome thing I have ever seen.”

He was laughing too.  “I know,” he replied, “that is exactly how you should feel when you’re skiing.”

Then I turned around and watched the guy a little longer.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to just let everyday feel like that?  I mean, when is the last time you let yourself have that much fun doing anything?

The more I think about that guy flying down the mountain completely uninhibited, the more it reminds me of that Friends episode where Phoebe teaches Rachel the “fun” way to run.  The way kids run.  And Rachel kind of scoffs at her, (cause let’s face it Phoebe looks like a total nerd) but then she tries it, and it’s like the most fun thing ever.

I don’t know, I’ve just been thinking about this ever since Saturday night.

You get one life.  Only one. Why not love it?

There will always be hard things, you will always have responsibilities and work to do, but that doesn’t mean that every little thing you touch in life can’t be made just a little more fun.

That you can’t let every day feel like that guy felt flying down the hill yelling “wahoo!”

Or climb out of bed every morning, look out the window at all the wonderful possibilities waiting, and think to yourself,

 This is so much fun.

  9. First of all I super duper love this outfit. I need to have more courage to mix it up a bit with colors AND patterns. I see your outfits and think, “WOW that looks great! So why wouldn’t I wear that? I’m not THAT girl that’s why. Well why not? I can be her!” I want to be a better version of me. I think dressing a little more out of my comfort zone could help push me to do other things out of it too. I’m livin on the edge now. I’m gonna mix some patterns next Sunday. HA! Thanks for the motivation Cori.

  20. I have always admired people who let themselves have fun with life like that guy you talked about. They are so refreshing. Thanks for the great story and reminder to enjoy as much of life as we can. Skiing sounds like a fantastic date idea too. I wish we had some snow that would stick her in the midwest!

Love that. I certainly didn’t feel that exhilirated when Skiing (was too scared to leave the easiest hill/slope) but I know that feeling! It reminds me of a fortune I got once that said “enjoy life. this is not a dress rehearsal!”
