soho.

On our second day in the city, we scouted fabric in the garment district, explored Soho, and took the pilgrimage across the Brooklyn Bridge.  If pilgrimage seems too dramatic a word for walking across the Brooklyn bridge (and back again) in July, you’ve clearly never done it 6 months pregnant.  Mr. suggested 1/2 way through it, that perhaps Brooklyn would be an appropriate name for this new little, given the circumstances.  I told him I would consider it, but not until I was sitting on a bench in Brooklyn Bridge park with an ice cream cone in hand, and my feet stopped throbbing.

All kidding aside, walking the bridge was an amazing experience.  The view of the city at sunset was out of this world beautiful, and I suddenly remembered all these scenes from Kate and Leopold that took place there.  Why does New York remind me of Meg Ryan so much?  Can someone please explain this to me?

Soho was of course charming, and I loved all the funky artsy shops and restaurants.  We ate at this amazing French restaurant one of the shop keepers recommended.  People, always listen to locals when they tell you where to eat.  You will not be sorry.

The garment district in New York is like dying and going to fabric heaven.  I’m sure being stuck between rolls and rolls of fabric isn’t the dream of choice for most people, but for someone like me, who gets all giddy and weak in the knees around great prints, it was unbelievable.

  4. I got to tell you, I love the pictures and the area is indeed beautiful but I just move to NYC and I hate Soho…I encounter some very rude new yorkers (no hate-my Husband is a Newyorker). I rather be in other areas…

When Harry Met Sally, the final scene atop The Empire State Building in Sleepless in Seattle, Addicted to Love, You’ve Got Mail, Kate and Leopold and In The Cut are surely some of the reasons that New York reminds you of Meg Ryan so much.

    • I was thinking this! Some of the most romantic scenes of all moves involve Meg Ryan in NYC :)
