desert sunset.

One of the things I had forgotten about Arizona is how absolutely bananas every single sunset is here.  If you feel inclined to brave the heat during those last few minutes of daylight, the desert never disappoints.  It’s very strange that being gone only a year you can forget things like that.  Maybe it’s has something to do with the stark contrast between Seattle and Arizona, but I find myself in constant awe since we got back.  Amazed by the sky, in love with the monsoons, humbled by the heat.  I remember feeling this way when we first got to Seattle; really the whole time we lived in the PNW.  The forest was everywhere there, in a way I could never fathom before, the unending lakes, the size of the Puget sound, the steepness of the city and the rain…
I thought I had to choose between the two, but really
I love it all.

I’m so sad you’ve left the PNW and I never got to meet you! Seriously cute outfit, I’m a little jealous you have such cute stuff even while pregnant, I felt so…ugh! haha I get what you’re saying though, when we lived in Utah, I thought it was so so beautiful, but here in washington is a beauty in a whole different way, when we visited back east, I thought it was beautiful there too–isn’t God the greatest artist?!

It’s so interesting to see how much we appreciate such normal things after being away for a while. Every time I go to my hometown in west Texas (basically the desert), the sunsets and starry night sky amaze me.

    Love the belt, too. :)

I so agree about the amazing sunsets, the smell of the desert when it rains and springtime cactus flowers. I have lived in Tucson and Louisiana with some of those same contrast. Love’m all. BTW love, the oatmeal sweater with the white dress and the splash of turquoise.

  6. Love your outfit. I have to agree the lush forests in the PNW are amazing. I live in Vancouver, BC and we have very similar weather to that of Seattle. Enjoy your sunsets.

So so true! I live in and love the desert. Sometimes on my way home from work I have to pull over because the sunsets can be sooo gorgeous I can’t even keep my eyes on the road. Variety is what it’s all about…Heavenly Father sure knew what he was doing. I love this pretty world!

  18. I live in the mojave desert in California. We are not as hot as AZ, maybe 5 degrees cooler (which is not much) and I just about die over our sunsets here too! They are so breath taking! It is so wonderful that places so dead from heat and dry air, can produce such a spectacular sight! And I think you look so great with that baby bump!

I really wish I looked as amazing as you when I was pregnant (maybe then I would actually consider getting pregnant again, haha). And I totally understand what you mean about loving both the desert and the Pacific NorthWest (I’m from Portland)…they are each beautiful in their own way! I would love for you to come link up to my Sunday Style linky party :)

  22. So, fashion/OOTD blogs don’t usually capture my attention, but the fact that you incorporate a good amount of life blogging, well, I’ve pretty much sat and read your blog back to, oh, March. Your pics are great, and let’s not pretend like your doppleganger isn’t some sort of Vanessa Minillo/Jessica Alba combination. Love your blog!
