Can we all just agreed that oxblood is the most disgusting name for a color ever?

I know it’s like “the” color this season, and maybe people feel really chic when they say oxblood, but honestly, every time I hear that word I feel sort of gaggy.

I mean what’s wrong with Burgundy, Merlot, Bordeaux, or even (heaven forbid) Maroon?  Are the colors that different that we have to invoke the image of a large hairy mammal’s innards?

I don’t know, maybe it’s fashion forward to say oxblood…

But I’m boycotting the name.

Should you wish to add a little more oxbl–er, Burgundy to your wardrobe:

  1. Lovely, and you pulled off those pants really well. I’m loving this burgundy color trend. I call it burgundy…even wine. It’s amazing how this old color is becoming a big trend. Gotta name it something new I guess

  3. I agree — I’m on board with you for a “prettier” name for this color — I think merlot or bordeaux sound much better! the word oxblood is just terrible and I refuse to use it! xo

Glad you voiced how gross that name for the color is. I agree. And you look so cute in merlot. Another name for the dark, rich color is grenache.

I too, love the color, but never refer to it as oxblood. Usually use burgundy/wine.
