Sometimes I can’t decide if I like dressing myself or my littles more.
On the one hand, I like getting new clothes (who doesn’t?), I don’t soil/ruin them nearly as often as the littles do, and I never argue about wearing tights to church.
On the other hand, the littles are really cute to doll up (especially the female littles). Clothes are so much cuter when they are tiny, and since my littles take after their midget mother, they stay…well little for a really. long. time.
Every time I think they’ve grown I see them around other kids their age and I realize exactly how much I have sentenced to a lifetime of hemming and stepping stools.
Take a few weeks ago, for example, when Miss Hannah participated in the school wide spelling bee. There she is a good head shorter than every other child there. So this little mini walks up to the micro-phone looking like a 5-year-old and spelling like a wiz. It was the cutest thing. Ever. I guess this is one of the benefits of being small. Everything you do looks more remarkable because everyone thinks you’re years younger than you actually are. In other words, being the top speller in the 3rd grade is a lot more impressive when you look like you’re five. ;-)
Speaking of my littles, it looks as though Miss Ava is going to have bright blue eyes just like the rest. That’s four for four. When we were engaged and I told Mr. I hoped at least one of our future children would inherit his eyes, I didn’t realize all four would. Can I get a little representation here? I mean, I did grow them… Also, I thought blue eyes was a recessive gene and much less likely to happen if you have a dark eyed parent. Can someone please explain this to me, because right now I’m thinking my 8th grade biology teacher was full of crap.

She’s just adorable! I love styling up my kids too. We’re the opposite over here though; my kindergartener is the same height as the third graders and is likely sentenced to everyone thinking she’s older than she is.
PS I think genetics are a tad more complex than they let on in biology! My daughter has just one blue eyed grandparent yet somehow ended up with green/hazel eyes! ~Amber

i don’t get the eye color thing either! i have hazel and my husband has dark brown. our son has light gray sometimes blue. SO weird!
It’s true, petite kids seem so much smarter! I always feel sorry for the kids who are bigger than their age because everyone wonders why the 3rd grader is acting like a 5 year old :(
And your post made me laugh, my husband and I both have dark hair and brown eyes and we have a blond haired, blue eyed son. Although to be fair, we’re both the only brown eyed siblings in both of our families, so I know the genes are dominant there, but it’s still funny…
She looks so much smarter with her new glasses now too!! And, her front teeth are coming in! They weren’t there when you guys left. Way to go, Hannah! Tell her Congrats from us for being a smarty pants, and she looks beautiful!!
Did one of your parents have blue or green eyes and the other parent brown? If so your kids eye color sorta makes sense: your eyes are brown b/c the dominant brown “won” over the recessive blue, but you would carry the recessive trait that when mixed w/ your husband’s blue gives a 50%ish chance of producing blue in kids. So getting all 4 w/ blue is a little unlikely, but not unheard of. But if both your parents had brown eyes, then this would be pretty biologically strange…
But anyway, cute (smart) kid, dress, and picture – that’s what’s really important (:
She is so adorable!! Love her tights

I second that, I love the tights on her!! xoxo
At least from pics she looks just like you! So, just let dad get away with the eye colour ;)
You two have the same no-teeth smile! She’s adorable.
Eye color is actually controlled by multiple genes on multiple chromosomes. http://www.sewanee.edu/chem/Chem&Art/Detail_Pages/ColorProjects_2003/Guttery/index.htm
She looks darling! And so impressed with her spelling skills. My husbs has brown eyes and I have blue, so being selfish I hope all my babies get my eye color, but a mix of his dark hair and my light. We will see.

Adorable! My parents both have dark eyes…I got my blue ones from my grandmother. I’ve told my mister that I hope our kids get his dark brown ones. Other side of the fence? Or maybe I just love brown eyes because they’re his! =D
Wow, she’s really starting to resemble her mother now!
Everything seems more remarkable? Yeah, I understand that concept…I’m worried about when I get older and my face looks really old, but my body is child sized (or, I could get really fat…that might be worse). Kids think *I’m* a kid now because I’m their size, but what about some years from now? It might freak people out…I shouldn’t be a Debby Downer…
Your kids might sprout up later on…ya never know…
My husband and I both have dark hair and dark eyes. Two of my children were born with blue eyes and blonde hair; one is turning into brown hair though. Miss Hannah is adorable!!
Miss Hannah is a doll.
haha So funny about not getting any brown eyed littles. I was taught the same thing about brown eyes being dominant. Hmmmm…..
What a cutie and love the outfit. As for the eye thing you can actually carry the blue eyes recessive gene Bb making it easier for your kids to have them. 2 parents that have brown eyes can actually have a blue eyed child if they both carry the Bb gene, and so on… :)
