it’s been awhile.

I finally wore one of my own designs to church yesterday.  It’s been awhile.  I forgot how much I love wearing box pleats.  They make me feel like Juliette Binoche in Chocolat with her fabulously full skirts and lovely cardigans.  I guess the character Vianne was my subconscious inspiration for this outfit.  All I know is, half way through the day I had the sudden urge for truffles.  It’s a good thing that a lovely Harry and David Christmas basket arrived by post Saturday afternoon, filled with all kinds of decadent treats and fresh pears from the darling ladies I work with on my clothing line.

Oh how I love them, and not just because they send me sweets.

The littles and I spent the afternoon eating dark chocolate truffles, candied popcorn and peppermint bark.  I tell you what, if you want to know the way to my heart… truffles.

Speaking of my heart, I spent the entire nocturnal hours Saturday fashioning myself one of those perfectly fluffy ballerina skirts.  I was up to my elbows in ivory tulle until the wee hours of the morning, stopping only to nurse Ava whenever she woke.  My heart was so happy.  The house was quiet, and it was just me and my Singer.  I love the rhythm of my machine; guiding fabric through it feels as natural to me as anything else I can think of or imagine.  I had forgotten how much I love picturing something in my head and puzzling out a pattern, then running the fabric through my machine as I watch it come to life, just for me.  It’s been awhile.

So tulle and truffles.  That was my weekend.

Excuse me, I need to go watch that movie now… It’s been awhile.

Have a brilliant Monday…

Oh, I so hope you will sell a tulle skirt OR give us the pattern! I have been wanting one for almost a year!! I should have just bought it when I saw it at Shabby Apple, but didn’t. I have the opposite of buyers remorse!
