denim.

Some days you wake up and you just know that you have to wear head to toe denim.
Yesterday was one of those days.
So happy that chambray showed up and offered us a suitable alternative to those hideous jean shirts that we all wore in the mid-90’s.
Speaking of which, there is this epic wall at my parents house, covered literally floor to ceiling with all kinds of awkward pictures of me, my four sisters and my cute brother from the time we were in diapers until, well now. (it’s practically a shrine to my parents posterity guys)
Anyways, as if all those humiliating Olan Mills portraits weren’t enough, right smack dab in the middle of the wall of fame hangs the crescendo to all hideous family photos.
The entire Meaker clan, (all of us somehow simultaneously smack dab in the middle of the awkward preteen stage) with terrible bangs and worse hair cuts, and all eight of us clad completely in denim.  And there I am front and center with my (even more pronounced if you can believe it) chipmunk teeth and a choker.  A choker.  It’s just so, so wrong.  Yet there it hangs, perpetual humiliation for the rest of my life.
I guess we all need something to keep us humble.
Mine is hanging in my parents basement.
Can we talk about how awesome lady ties are?  This really has nothing to do with humiliating portraits, but I feel like you should know how amazing I feel when I wear a tie.  You know, just in case you want the chance to feel all powerful and rebellious at the same time.  That’s how I feel when I wear one.  And this might sound weird but it makes me feel taller too.  Which, let’s face it, like never happens.
Jeans: Hudson.  Chambray top: J Crew Factory.  Tie: Old Navy. (awesome one here.) Belt: Stolen from Mr. ages ago.  Shoes: Payless. Glasses: Loft.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Go get yourself a lady tie and work it.

First of all you look absolutely amazing considering you had a little one not too long ago!!
Secondly had you told me a few years ago I would love head to toe denim I would have laughed at you, but now with you and other bloggers showing how to do it the “RIGHT” way I can’t wait to try it myself.

I am in love with this outfit — and I actually do think you look taller! Though I think it’s probably the killer jeans, not the tie. :) Also, so impressed that you can tie a tie. I wouldn’t even know where to begin!
