Did you know that my prom dress wasn’t a dress at all? It was a soft pink tulle ballerina skirt and a fitted pink satin top. I was so ahead of my time. Somehow, I must have innately known that 13 years down the road I would once again find myself bedecked in a full ballerina skirt and feeling super good that my 17 year-old self had the wherewithal to beg my mother to make me one. I’m not going to tell you how my round face, overdone hair and braces did not do that ensemble justice. (Curse you horrible awkward stage!) I will tell you that my mom did a bananas job on that skirt.
That woman has skills I dream about.
Ah, someday.
Seriously though. Do you have a tulle skirt yet, cause…
every. woman. should. have. one.
Are you going to feel a bit like a cupcake some of the time wearing it?
Sure.
The rest of the time you’re going to feel awesome.
After all, where’s the fun in being a woman if you don’t get to wear a big obnoxiously fluffy skirt sometimes?
A word to the wise:
A tulle skirt is a labor of love if you feel so inclined to sew one.
You’re going to labor, but you’ll love it.
I promise.

From my experience, going to NYC with a baby carrier is the easiest. Especially if the baby loves it. NYC, although semi-stroller friendly, is still difficult with a stroller. Finding elevators, ramps and such can be difficult. Many of the smaller boutiques don’t really have to room to push around a stroller. AND if the baby ends up crying and you end up carrying her anyway, you then you end up carrying her and pushing the stroller. Also, if you are somewhere that you can’t find an elevator you have to carry the stroller.
I loved it when my babies were little and we could just take the carrier with me. It makes things so much easier, and since it will be cold, it keeps them warmer as well.
Have a great time in NYC.
I absolutely agree that every woman should own a tulle skirt..and I simply adore how you styled this one! Not to mention you are my hero for making one…I remember my mother making a tutu for me in my ballerina days…oy.

You look gorgeous! Love your hair and the tulle skirt is so fun! I can’t believe you just had a baby.
I have been wanting to do this exact same thing! Do you have any tips on the best way to go about it? Yours is absolutely lovely! :) I have been thinking hard about how to sew mine, I always have to do a lot of thinking about execution before I take on a new project, I would love any tips from such an expert :)
Gorgeous skirt! I’ve been seeing tulle skirts around and I just adore them. I keep thinking “but when could I wear this?” but maybe I need to bite the bullet, get/make one, and just find an excuse to wear it any time. :)
youre right I do need a skirt like that — it’s very carrie bradshaw! xo

Ha ha ha, what a cute post! I completely agree, every woman needs a tulle skirt, no matter what her age. :) I’m in my 30’s and would totally wear one if I could find one that fit my super short legs. I LOVE that you made your own. . .it’s fabulous! That might be the road I need to take also. You look so lovely.

i don’t think i’d ever look as cute as you in a tulle skirt! you look stunning though!
I just bought a pattern for a tulle petticoat. I would love if you shared any tips on sewing one; for example, are your layers tiered? And how many layers did you use? Oh, sew many questions, :)
You look adorable by the way.
Can you please start selling that skirt in your shop? Darling!
Oh my you look adorable in that skirt!!! I have a feeling that a tulle skirt would make me look 8 sizes bigger than I already am. ;) xo
So cute! I would buy one from you if you put them on your website! :)

You are r o c k i n g this skirt. I love the background in these pics too. So, so beautiful!
My husbands company party is coming up and it’s black tie optional in San Francisco… I wonder if I could pull off a tulle skirt with maybe a blouse or fitted cardi and jewels?!! He lucked out and received a Hugo Boss tux to keep, from being in a wedding, I wonder if I would look dressy enough next to him..
I absolutely love this skirt and I’m so glad you’ve shared how to take a tulle skirt and make it into everyday wear. You always look so stunning :)
