it’s valentine’s day and you could win a lot of money.
Did that title draw you in?
I thought it might.
You should know Mr.’s and my second date was on Valentine’s day. Our first was the night before (long story), but our second date was February 14th, 2003. That’s kind of a death-trap date for a guy. I mean talk about pressure. Second date on lover’s day? That’s usually the relationship kiss of death. It’s a good thing that Mr. was a clueless Idaho farm boy and no one ever told him the rule about NEVER EVER EVER asking a girl you aren’t already dating out on Valentine’s day. Luckily, (for him) I’m not crazy, and didn’t expect more than a fun date (despite the fact that I was already in love with him). Even luckier for him I didn’t follow my mom’s advice to get him a little something special. Because THAT would have been really awkward.
(He didn’t get me anything)
Well, Valentine’s gifts be danged, we had a great time. I mean, obviously because 10 years later, here we are. Four kids and all.
It’s for that reason alone that February 14th has a special little place in my heart.
Right now you’re thinking “whatever Cori, blah blah blah with your sentimental story…get to the part about the money.”

This is so generous of you all! I have a few friends’ wedings coming up this year and would use the money to pay for bridesmaid dresses, bachey party trips, showers/gifts. You know how expensive everything with weddings can be and I want it all to be special for my girls! :) Happy V-day to you and your hubs!
wow!! I am glad I stopped by today…thank you for the chance! Should I win, I would use it to fund a spring family trip (skying?) for the 5 of us(college kid and soon-to-be college kid included) to have fun together and mark my husband’s birthday
I would use it towards a trip to France with my mom this summer! We have never been and I would love to meet my French pen pals who I practice conversational French with :-)
This is awesome! We just found out on Christmas Eve that we are expecting a little bundle of joy in August 2013. I would use the $1500 for all the fun baby things I get to buy, since this is our first one! :)
I would use it to finish off our basement. We are thinking of adding an extra bedroom & play room and we could use a little extra money to help get it going. =)
Not going to lie. I would probably use it to pay for summer classes and the rest for school loans. =[ Since I’m fasting from purchasing clothes this year, I can’t think of any better way to spend it. But if I pay off some school debt, i’m sure my future hubby would appreciate it!
I think I would use the money to go on a vacation with my Mike. We’ve been together four years and have never taken a serious vacation together (i.e getting on a plane, flying somewhere wonderful, exploring what that somewhere has to offer).
I would probably buy the Marc by Marc Jacobs bag I have been eyeing and get my mom and my besties some stuff. And MAJOR shopping spree at JCrew for spring.
The first thing I would do is buy a new oven, because ours is on its last legs! Then I’d spend the rest of it on highly impractical cute things for myself. Aaaand, maybe something for my husband and kids, too. :)
I would probably put it towards getting new living room couches and possibly a new bed frame! We’ve been sleeping on a frame from my in laws that’s over 20 yrs old!
First thing I would do is buy a skirt from your store! Then I would take my kids and my husband on vacation. We have yet to take our kids to the beach! Crossing my fingers!
I commented on Tales of Me and the Husband, but it would go straight into my “buy a house this year” fund. I’d probably have fun with some of it though.
We bought a new house in September and we are currently without a dining room table. I would use the money towards the new table so that I could host relatives for dinner and holidays! Makes it kind of hard without any place to eat or sit right now!!
I’d use the money to buy a DSLR camera, which I have been pining over for years. Also would help us save for our Disney trip this summer with my family!
So fun! I would absolutely use the money to build a business casual wardrobe, as I am graduating in May and need some big-girl pants and pencil skirts!
I would use the money to help my Uncle’s family as he has been in the hospital away from home fighting cancer. It would help them with their travel/lodging/meal expenses.
I would use the money to start my own home accessories boutique online so I can work from home with my littles. And use a little to buy some new clothes too!
I think I would spend the money on a trip somewhere with my husband – maybe someone tropical since we’ve been craving that since our Hawaiian honeymoon!
OMG well first I would do a little shopping and take my sweetie out to a nice dinner. At dinner we would talk about using the rest of the money for a vacation because we haven’t taken one together yet!
I would use it for my and my husband’s move to Utah in May. It would pay for gas for our moving truck and vehicles. I would buy things for our apartment: bookcases, a nice couch, and other bathroom and kitchen knickknacks.
Um… my first car + a roadtrip down the Oregon coast this Summer. And some pretty new clothes (that aren’t thrifted!), plus maybe a cheesecake date with my bestie. I’m good at stretching the pennies like that.
As per usual, I would have it spent 10 different ways, but right now, I’m really wanting a getaway with my husband. We never went on a honeymoon…and 11 years later, we are still wanting one!
I’d splurge on some items I’ve been covetting – hunter wellies, a new kate spade wallet, some kate spade pumps, and maybe something for our upcoming wedding? An amazing hair piece!
I have really been wanting a new camera! My hubby and I are going on a first anniversay trip in April, so a new camera and plenty of spending money would be great additions to the trip!
Oh wow, what an amazing opportunity to win! First off, I’d probably cry with happiness haha! I’d love to help out some local charities, my family, pay the fee for my knee surgery and the rest would go towards the holiday my boyfriend and I are planning for december :)
Oh I would use to to reno the playroom upstairs and build the window seat/toy storage bench with shelving. I want to do it right away but alas I just reno’d the den turned music room/library and we need some time to save up. This would help!
I would use the money to take a trip with my dear hubby. He has been working really hard at work and school, I think a vacation would be great for him and me :)
it’d be totally absolutely a BLESSING if we got this money. since booking a (non-refundable) trip, my husband has since gone down to part-time work, with a pay cut, annnnd we found out some VERY big news recently (i can’t tell yet…it’s still a secret)! it’s a blessing for sure, but every extra bit of money would help. i am going to be selfish and pray that we win this!
I would use some of it to purchase new plates, bowls, glasses and silverware. My old Corelle dishes with a outdated decorative edge are on their way out.
What an amazing giveaway! Thanks for the opportunity. I would use it to take my parents on a really awesome family vacation! They definitely deserve it.
Also loved the story about your second date with the MR. :)
wow, that is quite the giveaway!!! I honestly think I would save it for my trip to Spain and France this is coming up and maybe splurge on something very french … or maybe an amazing hotel room in Paris …. the possibilities are endless!! Jess JESS CAUSE BLOG
Hi Cori! Such a huge fan of your blog, your family is the cutest! I would put the money towards my own blog that I’ve recently gotten off the ground. Would love to put some design money into it and maybe take a blogger course or two. A new camera has been on my list as well! It’s always been a goal of mine to start a blog so would definitely use the money towards achieving that. Thanks for the generous giveaway!
I could help my nephew who is in Special Education purchase assisted technology for him to use so he doesn’t fall further behind in school. :) {P.S. Already a follower of your blog.}
Wow…this is amazing and so completely generous! I’m not getting a lot of hours at my waitress job and I have just started my own blog and would love to use that towards my blog as well as my photography! You can do so much with that gift card! Thank you for the opportunity to enter!!
I would take a few days off work and spend time at home with my husband and little girl. We would go for a ride, make treats, play games. Ahh. just take time. That would be perfect!
I would use some of the $1500 to by myself some clothes! i’ve never been someone who cares about my clothing, but recently (maybe after having a baby and spending many days in sweats) i’ve started to care about what i wear. I’d like to make over my wardrobe
$1,500!!! That’s SOOO much money. Spend it all in one place? Spread it out for lots of treats? Hmm. I think with a windfall I might splurge on new mattress for our bed (it’s ancient) and perhaps some lovely bedding to go with it! That would at least be the beginning …
Oh wow!!….awesome!!.I have been shopping my closet this winter….i would use the money to buy new clothes for spring/summer…Good Luck to everyone!…..Fab giveaway!
Buy a couple corilynn skirts :), a downeast swim suite (the polka dot salmon one is calling my name), go to cafe rio A LOT, buy a serger, buy a new blog design, and put the rest towards a new couch.
Wow! $1,500 – I’d like to say we’d do something nice with $1,500. Unfortunately, more than likely it will go to bills. Of course, some of it will go to our church, but the majority to pay some bills.
I’m having a baby in July, and we’re still trying to pay for my husbands Masters degree. That money would be the budget for everything baby, so we wouldn’t have to dip into our School Savings :)
I would probably be able to do a lot of things with that!! Here’s a starter list….new springy clothes, toms shoes, zaxby’s salad, magazine subscription, Breaking Dawn 2 DVD, new books for the kids, get my hubby’s car detailed….ah that would be so much fun!!!
We weren’t able to go back home to Canada to visit family, so I would take my hubby and kids back home then sweep him away to our honeymoon place in Banff, AB for our Anniversary that is coming up in a couple weeks!
Oh, so fun! I would use the money towards getting our nursery done for baby #3 and put it towards finishing up some renovations on our house. We have been renovating houses for the last 7 years due to being transferred for jobs and paying cash as we go. We are both so ready to be done with chaos, house chaos, kid chaos is a blessing.
I would probably go on a shopping spree. Plus, my brothers’ birthdays are coming up, and my mom and dad’s 25th year anniversary. Having that kind of cash would definitely come in handy! Thanks for this opportunity!
My mom who is a teaching assistant, is in need of a car due to her car being totaled by an uninsured motorist. She also gives rides to other co-workers without vehicles. I would give her ALL of this money to put towards a down payment. Her birthday is March 2nd, so this would be an AWESOME birthday gift!
My husband is a student, he works so hard and I can think of so many things that I could spoil him with with this money for his birthday and valentines day this month, but alas most of it would probably go toward practical things such as groceries and bills. Though I’m sure I could justify using some of it towards something special for him.
Wow!! Yay!! Ok, I would use the extra cash to but a cool camera to take awesome pics for the blog I am gettin ready to start. Excited!! Happy Heart Day.
What I would do. Probably help my dad pay for my tuition fees in college, do some major shopping and get a ton of business formal wear, and give some away to help some families I know that could use some extra cash!
Minus 10% tithe it will certainly go straight to savings. Thanks for sharing the other bloggers too. There were a lot of new ones I’ve never come acroos.
I’m leaving in April to serve in Oslo, Norway as a missionary for my church. I would use the money to help pay for the expenses of my mission! It would be so helpful. :)
We’re pregnant with our first child and I would LOVE to be able to spend the money on taking care of and prepping for our little boy making his debut in May!
Thank you for doing this! I’d spend the $ on a new firm queen bed! My current bed is 10 yrs old pillow top that’s killing my back. So I’m ready for a new bed! Also, my little sister just moved to Texas and I want to give her a plane ticket to visit the family in Cali for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
oh how winning this money would bring so much joy, during 2012 I lost two baby boys during pregnancy. The medical bills are flooding in faster than we can pay. I would love to pay off these bills so I can focus on my family and also so I can think about being able to get pregnant again.
What a sweet post! To be honest, I’d use the extra $1,500 to help pay off my car. We only owe a few thousand on it, so this would go a long way to finally not making car payments. I would be thrilled. Thanks for the giveaway!
Love this blog and this contest. I could use this money to either pay off some of my looming student loan or to take a little vacation after sitting through my 3 day Chartered Accountant exam in September! (trust me ill need a vacation after the exam)
$ 1500 = buy a lot of fabric to finish all my pinterest projects (you’ve inspired me, Cori)……or a much needed vacation (all inclusive to Mexico). You’re a doll!
For safe keeping, I would put it into a Tax Free Savings Account for two years until me and my sweetie get married :) We’re both students at the moment, and can’t wait to get married once our degrees are complete. The $1,500 would be put towards a venue or some aspect of the wedding.
What an awesome opportunity – thank you. I’d take my little family of three on a weekend getaway. My husband drives trucks and is never home – would love to spend a long weekend with him.
I’d use the money to treat my family to something nice, They’re are my biggest cheerleaders and supporters throughout my last two years of college and always encourage me to never give up my dreams. They’ve been with me through the bad and good so I would love to treat them for once as a way of saying thank you for all they do for me :)
I would put it towards my dream honeymoon in europe that we’re about to start planning for September! would love to not have to worry about how we’re going to pay for those “extras” like bottles of wine and excursions moorehe2@gmail.com
This is an amazing giveaway. Very thoughtful! I would probably buy my husband a new pair of comfortable work boots since he hustles all day everyday and his tootsies should be extra comfy since he brings in our livelihood to allow me to stay with baby. Some would go into tithing at our church, and the rest would be spent in all honesty transitioning my wardrobe from young adult, to new mother. Lots of comfy yet classy, nursing friendly, stylish pieces.
I would donate 10% to my favorite charity (tithing and all), and the rest would go towards savings for my future wedding. My boyfriend and I have been dating over three years and we plan on getting married after he graduates. It would be nice to use it as a down payment for a lot of things (venue, church, apartment, catering, etc.).
We bought the house I grew up in almost 4 years ago. It still looks pretty much the same as when I lived in it. We finally bought a new couch and it should be coming soon. I’d love to be able to buy some great accents and a new coffee table to make our family room our own. Thanks!
Finish my living room re-decorating…just got a new couch and made new curtains, but a new rug and maybe a chair would finish it up nicely! Great giveaway!

Oh my, I’m not even sure what I would do with it all yet! My mom just fitted me with a maternity wardrobe that I desperately needed as well as an adorable layette for my little baby girl coming in April. :) So, I’m very well supplied with clothes although I LOVE your fashion and clothing, Cori! Maybe help pay some of the travel expenses for our family traveling across from NJ to AZ for our little girl’s birth in April? It would be cool, regardless!
I’m moving to a new city and can envision a ton of ways to spend it but realistically (and more responsibly) it would go towards some medical costs and upcoming costs of my first MOH role!
We just did 4 months of voluntary work for our church in the sign language field, With this $ I would buy gifts for all our new friends and maybe just maybe buy me one of your skirts too!
The responsible thing would be to pay off some debt. However, I REALLY need a computer so I can finally throw this one out the window, not just threaten it. But… I would love to go on a little get-away with the hubs (guilt free by using this money). :)

I would definitely use it to pay for My husband & I’s trip to Dallas this Summer! He’s going for a men’s conference & I’m tagging along!! :)

I just had a baby in January so i would probably spend some of it on new clothes, and then take my husband on a hot date!!
$1,500!!! That’s SOOO much money. Spend it all in one place? Spread it out for lots of treats? Hmm. I think with a windfall I might splurge on new mattress for our bed (it’s ancient) and perhaps some lovely bedding to go with it! That would at least be the beginning …
I would put the money in the honeymoon fund my husband and I have!
I would put that money toward a nursery for our baby!

It would definitely help with student loans…as lame as that is:)
Date nights!
Date nights!
Wow! $1,500 – I’d like to say we’d do something nice with $1,500. Unfortunately, more than likely it will go to bills. Of course, some of it will go to our church, but the majority to pay some bills.
Thanks for the chance to win!
Wow!!! You are so sweet! I think I’d use it for a nice camera to take cute pictures of my babies and a double stroller:)

I’m having a baby in July, and we’re still trying to pay for my husbands Masters degree. That money would be the budget for everything baby, so we wouldn’t have to dip into our School Savings :)

I would use it for spending money on my first trip to New York!

I would buy a new washer and dryer! Amazing giveaway!
I would save it for a trip to Hawaii!
We would use the money to make a few big purchases for our baby boy due in June! A stroller, a carseat and of course some adorable baby clothes :)

Btw thank you again! Sarah S
I would use it to set up my craft closet. It’s been a disaster of a pile since I had to downsize from a room to a closet.
My camera is breaking down, so I would use the money to UPgrade!
oh how winning this money would bring so much joy, during 2012 I lost two baby boys during pregnancy.
I would use it to help my parents fix their car. My dad was laid off in June and hasn’t found a new job yet, so this would help out a lot.
I would use it to pay for some of my college expenses.
I would buy some more clothes and save up for my first car!

For safe keeping, I would put it into a Tax Free Savings Account for two years until me and my sweetie get married :) We’re both students at the moment, and can’t wait to get married once our degrees are complete. The $1,500 would be put towards a venue or some aspect of the wedding.
I would use this money to get a second car, we have made it 5 years with one car but I think it’s time to step it up

WOW!!! So generous! It would be a tremendous blessing to help us with moving and settling into our new house. :-)
I would fix my car and if any extra get my mom’s car fixed so we can get around town.

I’d purchase a new spring wardrobe!
It will help us buy a house!
Put it towards a down payment on our house!!
this is such a cool giveaway, I would totally use it for work clothes and to pay off bills from college since I just graduated.

I’d use the money to travel with my honey.
I would use it towards our (my fiancées and me) wedding! :)
I would use half to pay my bills and the other half towards a flight ticket to go see my family in Peru. Thanks for doing this!
Amazing giveaway! I would use the money to take my husband on a weekend trip as he works way too hard, and we both could use a getaway!
I just got engaged a few weeks ago. This would do quite nicely toward the tiny wedding we’re planning in Italy next year!
We bought the house I grew up in almost 4 years ago. It still looks pretty much the same as when I lived in it. We finally bought a new couch and it should be coming soon. I’d love to be able to buy some great accents and a new coffee table to make our family room our own. Thanks!
I would put grass on my backyard. My littles are currently playing on a large patch of dirt and I would love to be able to change that.
I would by some furniture I’ve been eyeing at Ikea and maybe a nice camera
Finish my living room re-decorating…just got a new couch and made new curtains, but a new rug and maybe a chair would finish it up nicely! Great giveaway!
Do a little redecorating – – or a lot!
I like Kileen’s response! Paying my taxes sounds like an excellent idea!
I would love to decorate our new house, but my practical side would probably say to save at least half and shop with rest!
I’d put the money toward a deck for our house. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d take my first vacation in years!
I’d take my first vacation in years!
We have a car that is barely functioning so it would be nice to have some extra cash to help with that… ANd I have a brand new baby arriving in May that I’d love to decorate a nursery for. :)
I’d use it to help start my own business!!! :) xo
I would pay off the last of our debt with an extra $1500. We only have $2K left to pay off before we are completely debt free minus our home. Can’t wait!
It’s nothing ‘exciting’ but I would use this money towards my debt. I have a goal of being debt-free by the end of 2013 and this would be a HUGE help.
Pay for new baby- 5 more weeks until he’s here!
I might use it for Vacation this summer and some clothes.

Unfortunately, I would use it to start paying off loans. Boring.
Honestly…I would use it pay bills. Nothing exciting, just get myself out of debt so I can stay home with this little baby I have coming in May!
I’m moving to a new city and can envision a ton of ways to spend it but realistically (and more responsibly) it would go towards some medical costs and upcoming costs of my first MOH role!
Yes, please! a couch is in order.
We just did 4 months of voluntary work for our church in the sign language field, With this $ I would buy gifts for all our new friends and maybe just maybe buy me one of your skirts too!
Oh..the places I could go! :)
But really, I would like to change out my curtains and carpet in my home. It’s a much needed change.
The responsible thing would be to pay off some debt. However, I REALLY need a computer so I can finally throw this one out the window, not just threaten it. But… I would love to go on a little get-away with the hubs (guilt free by using this money). :)
i’d use some to do some house remodeling, the other to save.
