when it rains, it snows.

We actually had a rainy weekend, which was fun.  I got to wear my white coat one more time, and the littles got to get truly muddy helping Mr. weed the yard.  A cool rainy weekend this time of year is kind of a big deal for Arizona.  Usually, by March it’s already hit 90 degrees.
So my boys have this burlap ruler on the wall in their room; it’s really cute and we use it to chart their growth.  The other day, juuuuust for fun, I decided to see where I measure up compared to my boys.  Oh don’t worry, I’m less than a foot taller than my 7-year-old.
One of the best things about being really, truly short is that you can occasionally get away with wearing kids clothes.  Which are cheaper.  And now thanks to brands like J Crew and Gap, there are actually some decent options out there.  Like this pair of snowcat pants from J Crew.  The adult version came out when I was largely pregnant with Ava, so I thought I missed out.  But low and behold, a few months later they pop up in the little girl’s section of Crewcuts, and for half the price no less.
I still had to bring them up a bit.  And by a bit I mean 4 inches.
You know you’re short when you’re buying the pants of a 12 year-old girl and you still have to hem them.

  6. And I have the opposite problem of yours – as a kid my pants were all high waters since I was skinny and tall. My doctor actually told me at age 11 that I would be six foot based on my current height of almost 5’4 – I’m only 5’8 though. Anyways I can still wear kids shirts as I basically have no shoulders no matter how much I try they just aren’t there! So kids shirts are an option although they can be short and wide at times. Cute pants though, I’m jealous!

I love that other peple shop in the kids section too! :) I am 5’3 but I have no shame in saying occasionally I look at the kids clothes (and shoes) to make sure I am not missing a good deal. Haha!

I knew that I lucked out by being small in the shoe department, but the clothes! Oh, my world has changed for the better. I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of that before. I can’t wait to try! It’s been so fun to follow along your blog– hopefully one day soon I’ll actually be able to order one of your darling skirts to wear!!
