be still, my soul.

this hymn came on in the car yesterday as we were driving the gentle curves of the pacific coast highway.  how timely it was, as it was something i needed to both feel and hear.  so for anyone else who may need reminding…

Be Still, My Soul

  1. Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
    Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
    Leave to thy God to order and provide;
    In every change, He faithful will remain.
    Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heav’nly Friend
    Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
  2. Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
    To guide the future, as He has the past.
    Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
    All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
    Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
    His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.
  3. Be still, my soul: the hour is hast’ning on
    When we shall be forever with the Lord.
    When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
    Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
    Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past
    All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

love this version of archie singing live to the MoTab.  the kid is still the cutest, and man can he sing.

    I love me some Archie! And more seriously, thank you for sharing this. I’ve been watching the horrific footage of the Boston Marathon bombings and this song brought some peace to my heart and mind.

    As a performer with a ballet company I get the unique opportunity of dancing a solo to this hymn. God works so much through our pain, but I admit there are times when I really just don’t want to dance it. On Friday I will go out again with this message. Thanks for reminding me of its value.

  7. I think you posted this on Monday before the bombing event in Boston. It is almost foreshadowing because it is such a fitting song for our feelings after this horrible incident. Continue to look forward to your posts … Thank you for sharing your life and your thoughts. :)

  10. Cori, I am a regular on your blog but I haven’t been on in some time. I recently moved from California to Arizona. I have been struggling with so many things and as I type this, tears are running down my face. I honestly feel like this post was written for me. Heavenly Father must have sent me to your blog today because my soul has not been still and I have been praying that it would be. So, thank you for posting thid and thank you for listening to the Spirit.
