I’m kind of always the last person to jump on the technology band wagon, if you know what I mean. Craig has been wanting to get us a tablet for basically forever, and I was kind of not on board. I just didn’t see the point, you know. We have a big computer, we have a laptop, we have smart phones. A tablet of any sort seemed a bit superfluous. So when Staples offered to send me their new Samsung Galaxy Note 8, I was like okay sure why not, because hey, free tablet. When it arrived all shiny, and lightweight with a large screen, I’m not going to lie I got just a little bit giddy. Who doesn’t like a new toy? Plus it was white with a nice clean design and I just have a thing for white electronics. I know, weird.
Anyways, after using it for the last month I can honestly say, I have no idea how we didn’t have a tablet before. Especially running the kind of business we run. It’s infinitely easier to use the internet, answer emails, take notes, etc than it was on my phone. I love that I don’t have to carry my bulky laptop around in order to compute on the go, and it has revolutionized my ability to get organized. I’m a list maker, and before using the tablet that meant scraps of paper randomly strewn around the house, getting lost and cluttering my counters. I don’t have to carry a bulky notebook around with me anymore, and with the stylist and the note program, I’m able to sketch new designs right into the tablet whenever I want. I love that I can take a picture and make notes right across the top of it– so convenient when I’m scouting fabrics as it helps me keep everything straight in my head. And I’m not going to lie, Craig and I may have spent a good portion of our flight home from NYC drawing mustaches, beards, and bangs on different pictures of ourselves. We’re so mature.
So here’s what I like:
Size: fits like a dream in my small cross body bag, and it’s not too heavy.
Camera: takes really great pictures.
Note program and stylist: I think we’ve covered that.
Design: good clean and white.
Convenience: It’s so much easier to answer emails on the go.
What I don’t like:
It doesn’t have cellular connection, so you have to be able to connect to a wifi in order to use the internet. It’s not a huge issue for us, because we have mobile hotspots with our phones and almost everywhere you go has wifi now, but I think it would be nice to be able to independently connect to the internet anytime, anywhere.
