my holiday window with Nordstrom.

Christmas Eve: Turtleneck. Leather Jacket. Sequin Skirt. Ring. Bracelet. Pumps. Clutch.

Christmas Day: Toggle Coat. Scarf. Cable Knit Sweater. Michael Kors Watch. Boot Socks. Hunter Boots. Denim.

I don’t know about you but I’ve got  a real love for traditions.  Especially the ones that involve holidays.  Without a doubt, Christmas takes the cake.  All the best traditions happen during the holiday season.  One of my favorites is how we do our Christmas eve and Christmas day.  Christmas eve is always a formal affair, fancy dinner with the family(you know Martinelli’s and all that), a nativity with the littles, opening up pajamas, reading the Christmas story from Luke 2, and listening to Mannheim Steamroller’s Stille Nacht by the glow of the Christmas tree.  It always starts lively and ends reverently.  I think that’s what I love about Christmas eve so much.  It’s all about family, and the Savior and being together to celebrate his life and the season.  Christmas day is all about being casual.  We open presents in the morning, each person takes their turn, every gift is enjoyed.  We usually nap in our new pj’s, play in the snow, eat Christmas eve leftovers, curl up by the fire, read books and end the evening at the movies.  We’re a big “let’s all go to the movies” family, and I love that.

When you’re a mom, there aren’t a great many reasons to get dolled up, so I always come up with something extra special during the holiday season.  I love to get dressed up and Christmas is a wonderful reason to do it.  This year I’ve curated an ensemble from Nordstrom, which includes a touch of burgundy (one of my faves right now), a perfect cropped leather jacket, sparkly accessories, and this amazing sequin skirt.  I love the chiffon on the bottom, and I can see myself working this piece into my wardrobe in about a million different ways (hello herringbone blazer!) post holiday.  For Christmas day, I’m thinking a comfy pair of skinnies with a chunky sweater, a pair of hunter wellies with boot socks (for playing in the snow) a wool coat and a cozy scarf would be perfect for a laid back holiday.  And if Santa could, ahem, please take note of the shiny gold Michael Kors, I would be much obliged.
