Have you all been watching the Olympics? I swear I’m not normally a TV person at all and then in the last two posts I’ve talked about it, but I make exceptions for the Beatles and the Olympics. I looooove the Olympics. I mean as a ten year old I wanted to be Nancy Kerrigan. You know, except for the whole Tanya Harding debacle. (remember that?!) I lived in California which means my “skates” were roller blades and my “rink” was our two car garage, but I’d put on my Junior Jam tape (don’t ask) and act out my own little long program. Man, I felt like I was on my way. Shattered dreams. The Saturday before last we took the kids to the little rink in the center of our town. I swear, we live in the most charming place. Little skate pond in the park right in the center of town and all. It’s so idyllic, it’s almost unreal. And I adore things like that, it’s worth all the tea in China to me, especially since I don’t drink tea. My big sister joined us, which always makes a family outing even better, and it was a good thing too, because it turns out three kids who are rather shaky on skates and a baby in a stroller can be quite a handful for only two adults. Shoot, it can be quite a handful for three… Poor Ethan. He probably fell a hundred times, but he didn’t really want any help and he did not want to go home. I’ve realized the older I get how much I live for these little moments with my growing family. They’re so fleeting, and it feels like my kid’s childhood is becoming that way to me. Fleeting. I hope I can hold it a little longer in my pocket.
Also, Mr and I are considering taking up pairs figure skating.
I think we’ve got a real shot.
;-)
Also, Ava’s stroller can be found here. (and since I always get asked, I adore it. Hands down the best stroller I’ve ever owned.)
How fun!!! See, there are some things I really miss out on as a Florida girl.
I can’t even imagine skating like that with a view of those beautiful mountains.

Oh my heavens, Ethan’s face!! I love it so much! I wish we could have gone with you. Your kids are all looking so old already!! Carter? Really?? A changed boy, I tell ya. Makes me miss them, and all of you. I can just imagine Ethan’s intensity and stubbornness on this day… Love ya.
It looks like you are creating some beautiful memories. Cache Valley really does have some charming places. Have you ever seen Marindale Ave? It’s the most charming little street in Logan.
