I went with one of my favorite combos and mixed florals and stripes for the dreamiest of afternoons in the city with my ducklings. Pioneer square is one of our favorite spots to spend time when we go downtown. It’s completely charming, in that perfectly non-touristy kind of way, which sort of defines Seattle for me. So understated and beautiful. And Pioneer square is so quintessential Seattle. That’s probably why I love it so much. All that cobblestone, the hanging flowers, old brick buildings with rusty fire escapes and funky restaurants with tall doors and gorgeous lighting. The whole thing covered in a canopy of green that kind of glows when it’s sunny, and makes you feel safe and sort of sheltered when it rains. My kids love going to the city, and I love marching them through the streets with me, talking about all the things that pop into their little heads. Cities wake up so much curiosity in children. I love that. So many different shapes and colors to see. So many people going so many different directions at the same time. Cities just beg to be explored, observed. Especially a city like Seattle that somehow manages to feel simultaneously urban and wild.
Happy Weekend.
Tally ho.
