Do you want to know something? Almost no one in Seattle has air conditioning. Do you want to know something else? It still get’s warm here in the summer! And it’s a wet warm, that just goes right through you. So what do you do on a Sunday evening on a warm day, when your house gets all stuffy? You get out of dodge, that’s what. Last night we drove up into the cascades and explored Alpental, a ski resort that has a magically swiss-alps-esque feel to it. Don’t you love visiting ski resorts in the summer? I love seeing what’s hiding under those lifts, all the things covered in snow when you’re normally there. Anyways, a drive up into the cool hills was just what the Dr. ordered. We threw rocks into the trees, and the river, walked on the bridge, and breathed that fresh cool mountain air. I love love love where we live. ;-)
So, I’ve got to be honest with you. I really wanted to like these Sonnet James dresses. I’ve got two of them and while I find them wildly comfortable, and I love the idea behind the brand and it’s creator, I don’t think they do much for me. My husband is admittedly not a huge fan, he calls them my bag dresses, because they’re kind of a bag on me. :-0 Anyways, I like to wear them on Sunday afternoons, after I get back from church and want to just cook and read and nap, or on road trips when you really just want to wear pajamas, but pajamas just aren’t really a great option.
Anyways, here’s wishing you a very happy Monday!
Geof. doesn’t like those kind of dresses either..I mean, it’s like wearing a mumu..they’re EXTREMELY comfortable, but hubbies don’t find them as flattering. ;) You still need to own a few, though..for your own sanity.
gorgeous bridge and adore the dress
ladies in navy
Awww, you’re making miss my home state!
I used to live in San Luis Obispo, CA and nowhere had air conditioning…which was fine until the indian summer hit in November and it was 90 degrees! We used to go shopping or to the gym to get out of the heat-hope you guys had fun!
Yeah, on trips like that I sometimes wear things that I occasionally sleep in. Or, you know, sloppy rolled up jeans. So when I saw you with that dress in the pictures, I was thinking about what a frump I am. Bag dress or not.
I think it’s adorable. Maybe pair it with sneakers and tie a light sweatshirt around your waist for a very sporty spice look!
oh good idea! I’ve never tried it with sneakers but that would be cute!
I think just shortening it a bit, and sneakers, would make all the difference. It’s cute.
One of the things I admire about you most, is your authenticity!!! I love how you keep it real :) This has been one of the best Seattle Summers. I’m loving every minute of it. And when I hear complaints about the heat, I just want to scream….”remember this when you are sitting in the freezing rain at your kids soccer game in a couple months!”
What a gorgeous place! That dress looks comfy and cute!
Too bad you don’t like your sonnet james dress. I have 4 of them and they are awesome. They make me look like I have curves – which I don’t really. Maybe you need a different size?
P.S. I LOVE the dress (I hope my comment didn’t come off rude..just wanted to let you know I can relate in the husband dept).
