Sweater: Target. (On sale and they have 2 other colors that I haven’t seen in store.) Jeans: Target. (similar.) Boots: Hunter. (kids, adult’s here.) Field Jacket: Loft. (similar.)

We’ve been having one of those dreamy magic falls that makes you feel like you’re cheating at life and someone’s going to storm in and demand you pay the piper at some point.  Maybe I’m still in my honeymoon phase with Seattle again, but I haven’t even minded the rain.  (Don’t tell me if I am, I don’t want to know.)

Fair isle sweaters are totally my peanut butter and jam this fall.  I found this one at Target, on one of those random, “I just need to run in and get something” trips, so of course I grabbed a sweater while I was there and bought it without even trying it on.  That’s how me and Target roll, sans try-ons, because it’s Target and if it doesn’t fit I’ll be in again tomorrow anyway.  That or I pull the “try it on without the dressing room” method.  Where you not-so-slyly try on things like sweaters, or jackets or button ups to avoid dragging four kids into a dressing room at all costs.  But those Target workers, they never hassle me, they just smile and nod while I awkwardly slip the sweater back over my head.  Yes, I was just trying that on.  No, I’m not intending to steal anything, I just have no pride.  Motherhood will strip you of that pretty fast.  But I feel like Target just gets those kinds of things about motherhood, you know?  It’s just there in the walls.  I guess that’s why I never feel judged there, because Target gets me.  And also it’s probably why once I go in, I never want to leave.  It’s like a trap for mothers, they know exactly what they are doing.  You know what else I’m loving about Target, that I totally just discovered?  Their in-store pick up.  You mean I can by it online and just pick it up the next time I’m in the store (which, let’s face it, is like every other day.) and they’ll just have it waiting for me behind the service desk.  No shipping required?  Sold.   Oh Target.  You think of everything.

What was I originally talking about?  Oh yeah, fair isle sweaters.  Anyway, I’m really liking them this year.  I feel like they’re a prepster’s basic white tee.  I’m not really a prepster, but I’ll call myself that for a day if it means I get to wear fair isle sweaters and dream of owning a boat someday.  But, you know, not in the stuffy way.

Also, look at this bunch of turkeys.
