There’s nothing I love more than a day in my favorite city with my favorite little people. Seattle man. I’m not kidding, this city is magic. Even my ducklings can feel it. And I love that they’re starting to know this city as well as I do. That it feels as natural to them walking the sidewalks and navigating the city streets and crowds as it does to me. When I think about how we left this place a few years ago, I still can’t understand why… But this city, it’s in our bones and it always brings us back. I’m couldn’t be happier to be here. I never get over that feeling I get, driving through the caddywhompus streets, walking the market, stopping in for a crumpet at the crumpet shop, or some cheese at Beechers, meandering down the waterfront, or riding the ferry. I was made to live here, and I’m so happy to be back. Seattle is my place.
Whenever I take my littles on an outing, I always opt for an outfit that makes me feel put together, but mostly is flexible. There’s a lot going on when you’re navigating four little ones through a city, or really anywhere and I need to be able to handle–literally–anything that’s thrown at me. (oh the stories I could tell…) But really, don’t all women kind of need that? For me, flats are a great option, and if you’ve been reading this blog for awhile you know all about my long love affair with the classic ballet flat. I’m of the opinion that they will never, ever ever go out of style– I figure if they were good enough for Jackie and Audrey, they’re good enough for me. I have a pair of black and navy bow flats from J Crew factory, and I wear them all the time. They go with everything. I’ll occasionally trade in flats for a pair of heels, but they have to meet 3 requirements: they have to be comfortable, they have to stay on (read, strap to my feet, etc) and the heel cannot be too high. These oxfords are my go-to with a pair of boot cut jeans, and these booties are a great smaller heel option that I pull out with skinny and boyfriend jeans, these winter boots are swoon worthy and super gorgeous, plus they have a wedge heel. That’s a trifecta. No clue how they pull that off. If you live in a colder climate than Seattle, but you don’t really want to go trudging around in heavy duck boots all winter (nothing wrong with that, duck boots are super cute) these are a great flat option as well and they’re a steal.
This time of year, I’m all about the coats, and when it comes to effortless but put together ensembles, a statement coat is about as easy as it comes. A fun coat is an outfit maker during the colder months when all there really is to do is layer, layer, layer. It can make a statement all on it’s own, and you can throw on a fun scarf to finish off the look, and (added bonus) keep your neck warm. And, I’ll let you in on a little secret… this is a phenomenal time of year to buy a coat. My birthday is next week and I almost always add a new classic coat to my collection, and I always pick it up for a steal. ASOS, JCrew, and Boden are a few of my favorite places to find great coats.

Shall We Sasa
Hey Cori,
It says that this coat is in orange – is that the colour you bought it in? Or did it originally come in a red? The photos you’re in look like it’s red. Thanks for helping me out!
Nat
I got it in Orange, but it’s much more of a poppy red color with orange undertones. It’s a great color. Hope this helps!
Hi Cori–I have never ordered through ASOS…what size did you order? Do they run true to size? I don’t want to have to pay international postage for the return:) Thanks! Love the coat!
Hi Jee,
I ordered a size US00 or a UK2. it fit perfectly. Although, in a lot of US brands the 00 still fits a little big, so I would say that ASOS runs a little on the smaller size. (works great for me because I’m so short) Hope this helps! It’s a beautiful coat and such a great deal.
Love your scarf and flats! Your son’s green coat is so cute too!
Hi Cori – I ordered this coat after seeing it on you. Just received it and was wondering if the texture of the coat makes you itchy? The wool/poly texture isn’t smooth. Thanks!
Hi Nally, the outside is a little scratchy, but I haven’t had any trouble with it. Where it’s fully lined it’s not itchy at all for me when I wear it. Hope this helps!
